AIBU?

To be annoyed that some one stole my lunch

I prepared a lovely pasta salad for work and some one has stolen it out of the communal fridge.

They've gone into my lunch bag, by passed the yoghurt and apple and stole my pasta.

So I've had to buy myself another lunch today which was over priced and crap.

Aibu to think that if you're that broke or have forgotten your lunch you just ask a colleague to help you out and not steal some ones lunch?

And I definitely have not forgotten it!

MY SANDWICH? Grin

AtrociousCircumstance · 25/04/2017 16:58

That's so underhand. Who the hell does that? Straight forward stealing, no difference between that and shop lifting - although in a way it's worse because they will have known who they were stealing from.

Jaysis · 25/04/2017 16:59

Tomorrow, make exactly the same salad.

Add laxative.

And wait.

Nicpem1982 · 25/04/2017 16:59

I don't understand the mentality of stealing someone's lunch

Next time lace it with laxitives you'll soon see who the culprit is Grin

witchofzog · 25/04/2017 17:00

That takes the piss . It would be bad enough if it were a shop bought pasta salad but one you made yourself?? And what if you had no money to buy another lunch ? ( I have been in that situation before when I'm my knees) Do you have any idea who it might be?

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 25/04/2017 17:01

FRIDGE NOTE needed!

IloveBanff · 25/04/2017 17:01

Crowdblundering with the moistmaker?

Nicpem1982 · 25/04/2017 17:02

I work in a huge building so no I don't know.

I did have money for a sandwich but I'm trying to cut back on expenditure at the moment as we've got a few expensive months coming up socially.

Chocmudpie · 25/04/2017 17:03

Ew who would do that. I would never steal someone else's lunch coz I'm too worried about germs and stuff! Stupid as that sounds. Definitely add something like ALOT of chilli. You'll soon know who it is!

watchoutformybutt · 25/04/2017 17:04

Do you work in a hospital?
This used to happen to my mum all the time on shift work in the hospital.

Justmadeperfectflapjacks · 25/04/2017 17:04

Def sabatage tomorrow's lunch and update as a necessity. .

Nicpem1982 · 25/04/2017 17:05

I don't work in a hospital I work in centralised head office

No YADNBU
Fair enough if it was shop bought and someone made a genuine mistake but that is just fucking awful.

This used to happen in my old work ALL THE TIME though never to me luckily. Someone messaged their TL about it one day and the big boss ended up sending an email round saying anyone caught would have their job at risk because if they are willing to steal off their colleagues can they really be trusted around money (insurance job). The message was a bit OTT but it put the scares on and worked.

Nicpem1982 · 25/04/2017 17:06

I've made the same again for tomorrow (did a huge batch) the think is my floor houses around 100 people and we're sectioned off there's no guarantee that if I did sabotage it I'd see the results - temping though

kittybiscuits · 25/04/2017 17:07

I worked with someone who used to do that. They had an illness and just felt entitled to take what was they because they needed to eat (not diabetic). They reacted really badly when I said I thought it was a really bad thing to do.

kittybiscuits · 25/04/2017 17:07

*what was there

Nicpem1982 · 25/04/2017 17:08

Kirstxx - if it was shop bought wouldn't there be 2 of the same salad in the fridge?

Starlighter · 25/04/2017 17:10

That's so bad! It's theft! Report it to HR and ask them to send an email confirming its theft and against (hopefully!) company policy. Ask to stay anonymous if you want to.

KinkyAfro · 25/04/2017 17:10

I work on building sites and we have separate fridges and canteen areas for the guys who work on the sites....most days someone has their lunch pinched. Absolutely disgraceful. A couple of times the culprits have been caught red-handed and ordered off the site but then it happens all over again

Nicpem's lunch, please don't take me, ok?

JennyOnAPlate · 25/04/2017 17:14

toffeeboffin · 25/04/2017 17:14
