So, we are having a party.

It's a general celebration (both me and DH turned 40 in last few years/wedding anniversary a decade on/a general celebration that we are still standing, undefeated by life's little ups and downs.

It's kind of a thank you as well, to people who have helped us as a family when times have been tough.

It will be a mix of friends young and old, mix of generations.

We need to give suggestions for playlist to our friendly DJ in the next week - so...what are your top dancing tunes to keep the floor filled? I like soul/funk but I'm not genre fussy. Cheese is fine by me, but please god no Robbie Williams (AIBU??)

I'd love to send everyone off with memories of a happy night on the dance floor. Come and help me do just that.

To get people up dancing/being silly?

D.I.S.C.O (am I stating the obvious? Grin )
Oops upside your head
Dont leave me this way (The Communards version)
Footloose
The only way is Up
Chain reaction
Uptown Funk (ds loves this)
Stand & Deliver
Go your own way
Mmm Bop
Rocking all over the world.
Highway to Hell
Enter Sandman

All these get me bopping around Smile

What about a few rock ballads?
Some good old fashioned Rock & Roll?

I will shut up now. Someone else can suggest more modern stuff...I am too old Smile

Thanks for those - Adam Ant for sure. Diana Ross too - reminds me of being a kid and dancing to mum's records.

DS loves the Levellers so 'One Way' is going on the playlist.

What about Prince and Bowie? Best dance inducing ones?

More current stuff I'm liking Janelle Monae 'Tightrope' and Jungle 'Busy Earnin' and Tieks 'Sunshine' gets me jumping.

Keep 'em coming!

Yes Allthebestnames, we've done the same. Lots of 80's stuff coming in from friends feeling nostalgic! Just looking for more inspiration - maybe some more recent stuff (last 5 years?)...always good to have new music in your life. I will be busy listening to some of the above tomorrow. Thanks for all your suggestions everyone - much appreciated x X

My taste runs to much of the 80s stuff already mentioned, but I'd suggest Mark Ronson "Bang bang bang" for a fairly recent great party tune!!
