Christmas Party

I KNOW it's April. Please let me explain.

My DD is turning 10 in May.

I told her a story (may out me) about 2006, when I celebrated Christmas in May. I was in a refuge during December, and swore I wouldn't celebrate Christmas until I was settled, etc.

She was fascinated! She's asked for a "Christmas party like yours" since she was old enough to ask.

So, this year I'm doing it as a surprise for her. I know her two BF's moms, and they're on board, and have promised not to breathe a word.

We have a restaurant booked for two hours. Thinking of arranging the kids (4 10yo, and DS, who is 5) two hours before.

What games do I organize? Also, I could do with a few anack/drink ideas, which won't spoil their curry appetites?

She wants a purple cake. (I make cakes). How do I incorporate her cake into the theme?

We always used to have a Christmas party in April when I was little. It was fun! Do you have crackers? You can probably get kits to make them online if not.

Is it for her birthday? I guess you have Christmas games (charades?) and the purple could be a present. I'd decorate with white holly leaves and a red bow.

VoldemortsOffspring · 24/04/2017 00:10

Yes, for her birthday. Christmas crackers is a fab idea!

We've decided the "party bag" eill be a Christmas gift, wrapped under the tree, for each guest

Pin the nose in Rudolph
Xmas carols in the background
Fingerprint scanner app on phone to see if they've been naughty or nice
We played a chocolate sprout roulette game at xmas, can't remember where from but if you Google it might be available somewhere.
White pom-poms /Cotten wool to make snowmen
Make lots of wool pom-poms and have an indoor snowbal fight

BrieAndChilli · 24/04/2017 00:19

Christmas bingo
Christmas Jenga (lots of small presents to try and make into a tower)

BrieAndChilli · 24/04/2017 00:21

Decorate a bauble - will be nice for them to have something to remember the party.

Blondie1984 · 24/04/2017 00:27

Could you do a Christmas themed treasure hunt?
Christmas song karaoke

LoveDeathPrizes · 24/04/2017 00:29

You could all decorate a fur tree with different ornaments (purple too?)

I think this is a wonderful celebration for you. I hope it becomes a tradition.

LoveDeathPrizes · 24/04/2017 00:31

Could you make crackers with little memories inside of your best Christmas times? I suspect your daughter is really into this idea because it was so special to you so she might really like that.

chocolatesavedmysanity · 24/04/2017 00:44

Can I come please?? Sounds awesome

KC225 · 24/04/2017 01:04

Baker Ross has loads of Christmas crafts on their sale section. Christmas decorations, sacks etc to make. Pretty cheap too

LoveDeathPrizes · 24/04/2017 01:15

Could she have a mini birthday advent calendar?

LoveDeathPrizes · 24/04/2017 01:16

And a Christmas song mini disco of course.

Decorating the tree should definitely be part of the party...kids always love that. Purple goes well with red...in a royal sort of a way!

So maybe purple iced cakes with red berries and holly leaves...will look very ott but they love that too!

haveacupoftea · 24/04/2017 01:39

This is the sweetest thing ever. My sister and I used to have a Christmas movie day over the summer. Sofa, duvet, box of Roses. Good times.

You could make her cake look like a box of Quality Street.

SideOrderofSprouts · 24/04/2017 02:00

KC225 · 24/04/2017 02:00

Ylvamoon · 24/04/2017 02:13

Don't forget the twinkling lights decoration!
Love all the great ideas!
On the note of treasure hunt: how about a spy / code barker game with Christmas theme? (Did this for my DC's advent calendar... they loved it! Just Google code braking for kids and indulge in the endless possibilities.)

ScarlettFreestone · 24/04/2017 02:36

Sing the 12 days of Christmas- with actions.

I remember reading a thread about a Christmas shop open all year on the Isle of Wight - may be useful if you need something really Christmassy.
