To think this child shouldn't show off this way?

One of the children in my dd's school has taken a page out of a brochure and put it on the wrong of a clear plastic pencil case and has been showing everyone.

(She comes from a wealthy family so it's more than likely not a lie.)

Obviously I'm not saying this girl should say nothing. But I feel like it would almost be the equivalent of me buying a Porsche, taking photos of it and showing everyone at work.

I think everyone is entitled to nice things, but I don't think you should rub said things in everyone's face. Other way around I wouldn't want my dd cutting out our holiday from a brochure and taking it into school to show off.

I don't get this thread. hmm

RNBrie Sat 22-Apr-17 21:45:29

I don't understand what she's done sorry. What sort of brochure is it? What do you mean by putting it on the wrong of a pencil case?

Pinkheart5915 Sat 22-Apr-17 21:45:58

Meh child excited and showing friends what they got, that was standard even when I was at school tbh.

Fourtwenty Sat 22-Apr-17 21:46:51

Oops, that sentence should read -

Put it in the FRONT of the pencil case.

Crunchymum Sat 22-Apr-17 21:46:52

Huh? confused

kimann Sat 22-Apr-17 21:47:01

I'm very confused - what is a wrong of a clear plastic bottle? And why would pictures of your holiday be in a brochure?

Fauchelevent Sat 22-Apr-17 21:47:11

I'm guessing she cut out a picture of where she is going on holiday to stick on her pencil case. She's likely just very excited, not showing off.

What is the picture of?

missyB1 Sat 22-Apr-17 21:47:43

Eh? Don't understand this at all.

Xmasbaby11 Sat 22-Apr-17 21:47:55

Sweet. Can't see a problem?

StillStayingClassySanDiego Sat 22-Apr-17 21:48:10

I'm not seeing an issue.

DressMeUpInStitches Sat 22-Apr-17 21:48:31

Brochure of what?

zzzzz Sat 22-Apr-17 21:48:33

Why would the other children careconfused?

DressMeUpInStitches Sat 22-Apr-17 21:49:13

Are you a 12yr old girl? Why are you worked up about this?

Maudlinmaud Sat 22-Apr-17 21:49:30

Have you left out lots of words op. Read it back and see if it makes sense to you.

BlondeBecky1983 Sat 22-Apr-17 21:50:42

Are we talking a pic of the castle at Disney World it something? That's sweet! She's excited! X

BounceBounceSplishSplash Sat 22-Apr-17 21:50:43

It sounds like holiday excitement rather than showing off to me.

BenadrylCucumberpatch Sat 22-Apr-17 21:50:59

This makes no sense to me and I haven't even had wine confused

SavoyCabbage Sat 22-Apr-17 21:51:03

But people do show photos of their new cars to people at work, if they are excited about getting a new car. Or kitten, or bathroom.

My neighbour is going to Florida soon with her dc and we were talking about it at the park this week. I don't think it crossed either my or my dds minds to feel jealous or that she or her dc should not be talking about it as we are not going to Florida. It's not rubbing it in people's faces. It's sharing excitement.

Lelloteddy Sat 22-Apr-17 21:51:03

It's not THAT hard to understand.
Excited kid has stuck a (torn out of a brochure) picture of her holiday hotel into a clear plastic pencil case.
Other kids can see it and OP thinks it's unfair on those kids who can't go on posh holidays.

Maybe you over-indulged on 4/20 op

Tinkerbec Sat 22-Apr-17 21:51:45

Most people would show off a new car to their mates.

She is probably just excited.

Was it a picture of her holiday destination?
