To want to drop kick my neighbours into the sun?

Posted a while ago about the neighbours selling their flat and how they had taken out the carpets in breach of the lease, along with various other dick moves over the years. This week the neighbour gave us a form to sign to extend their lease as it's less than 70 years and asked if we could do it quickly so they could proceed with the sale. Made out it was no big deal.

Anyway, we read the thing and it turns out they (or more likely the buyer) are also asking for ownership of the loft! For free! There's a lease amendment in there. It's 2 flats and a share of freehold so ATM we both own the loft iyswim.

Saw our solicitor yesterday and of course they're going to have to buy our half of the loft, but what I didn't realise was there's a premium on the lease so it'll cost them thousands to extend it, half of which goes to us as joint freeholders.

How fucking stupid do they think we are?! Obviously we are going to take legal advice before signing anything. They are horrible, selfish people anyway but I don't know whether to be massively insulted or laugh. Their solicitor must've told them this could happen, and they have tried to sneak it under our radar. And they nearly did. The massive arseholes.

Anyway I am going to have a large now. Upstairs woman hasn't asked us yet if we've signed the form. Obviously I'm not going to say anything to her but really would it be so U to laugh in her face? And AIBU to feel a bit smug that as our solicitor hasn't got in touch with theirs yet, they seem to have no idea what's about to happen?

Well, these are the people who started an incredibly loud juicing business in their flat, running the juicer till after midnight sometimes, and didn't think they needed to mention it to us. (They did finally move to proper commercial premises but only after one of their clients threatened to pull out). So tbh although I know it's petty, I am fucking ecstatic and really wish I could be a fly on the wall when they get the news.

Although she'll take it out on her husband - she always does. Poor bloke.
