AIBU?

To think that some left-wing supporters are just so NASTY

This is based on posts I have read on here and a couple of very vocal left-wing friends I have on facebook.
I have truly never read a Conservative supporter personally attacking Labour in the same way.
I find it astonishing and if I am honest, a bit childish.
Recent examples include a website pulling Teresa May's living room apart and costing out every single thing in it, to a chorus of comments along the lines of how can she sleep at night when children are hungry and she has a £25 candle.
Every time the subject is raised on here, there is a long thread of hysterical comments about how nasty the Tories are. Yes, Tory supporters state their case and answer back, but they seem to be able to do it in a more restrained, mature manner than outraged Labour screamers.
There seems to be a lot of personal bile aimed at Teresa May, which I am at a loss to understand - just what has she done that is so terrible?
She is pushing through Brexit, but that was what the country voted for. Is she supposed to go against the country's wishes?
All of Labour's policies look very lovely, but none have any substance at all. My friend recently stated on Facebook she was supporting Jeremy Corbyn because he wanted peace not war. And? How is he going to implement that then? It reminds me of the 1980s T-shirts stating War is Stupid. Lots of nice words, but to implementation strategies.
It amazes me that supposedly intelligent people seem to be so brainwashed by this nonsense and think that flinging mud is an appopriate way to behave.
Is it just me?

It's not just you who has noticed the caring sharing Left being anything but! It's not really anything new or remarkable though, but I do worry it will cost them the election. Well, that and Corbyn ...

I am as far from a Tory as you can get, but I actually agree with you. No one takes a person seriously if they feel they can only get their point across by being a nasty, vicious arsehole and it really gets me angry. These people mean that those of us who want to discuss very important issues, are tarred with the same brush.

It gets too personal and the actual issues are almost forgotten.

All sides can and have been nasty and I imagine they will all continue to be nasty to each other.

It's like brexit isn't it, when ALL leave voters were racist, vile and shouldn't be allowed to vote

I make my vote however I want and try and ignore al this crap

Grin I don't know what to say OP.

You must do some very blinkered reading.

I rest my case!
Pink, yes I do think it will help them lose the election. certainly my friends seem to be more concerned about hurling mud at Tories and validating it in their own echo chambers than actually thinking about the impression they are giving undecided voters

"outraged Labour screamers"

Nope. No attacks there...

I find left-wingers less out and out rude, but more patronising and holier than thou.

People who vote Conservative or who think Jeremy Corbyn is a bit of a plonker really don't understand the issues, are in a bubble, misguided, really all they need is a left winger to sit them down and explain things to them, in words of one syllable over an organic coffee or pot of lentil stew. Left-wingers are the ones who are so caring, compassionate and full of love for their fellow man. Hmm

YANBU. I'm a long way from a Tory but I noticed this around the time of the last election - how bullying and self-righteous so many avid left-wingers can be. I read a really interesting article about it - I'll see if I can dig it out.

I hadn't realised that 'Be Nice' was a part of the Labour manifesto. Hmm Or is this more of a 'Stop making me feel bad because I'm voting for a party who repeatedly prioritise the rich?'

I think it is best to play the ball and not the man. Politicians are fair game but I do try and avoid launching personal attacks on here.
It's very hard to be a group under attack such as people being refused PIP though and not take it personally.

Hard left is just as bad as hard right.....extremes in politics is not good. I'm a lifelong labour supporter, I will not be voting for them on 8th June thanks to Corbyn's refusal to step down.

Hallowed - what do you mean?
What a Hex - that's what I mean, exactly.
Most of the posts on here have sort of proved what I was trying to say. Hint that you might not be left-wing and you are immediately shouted down.

Have you never heard anyone poverty shame anyone else, calling them a chav or benefit scrounger. Never heard people being so far removed from general working people that they don't understand how everyone doesn't have a foreign holiday and money to spend on clothes and extras every month. Claiming immigrants taking our jobs? Surely that's the same thing? Personally I wouldn't say any of these things or the things you have mentioned OP but I think you are in an echo chamber and very nieve if you think left wing supporters are the only ones that say nasty stuff!

The screamers don't do much for the party sadly. I haven't ever had much of an interest in politics, but judging by the behaviour of some of the parties supporters I wouldn't want to be grouped in with them!

They simply won't see that they may alienate the very people that they should be courting. Momentum will destroy the Labour party from within and will simply blame everyone else. Pathetic really.
