So I know im not unreasonable to take my DC on holiday next year .... he will be 3.5yrs if we go on the holiday im looking at. Am i unreasonable to think it will be 'easy enough'? We have traveled quite a lot and he is really good BUT Ive always had someone else with me. This would be the first time just us. I know we will be fine in the resort its just the travelling, I think I may be thinking it will be easier than it actually will be? Any stories/and or advice greatly appreciated too

He stills young enough that you could get away with a pushchair which might be great for airports etc and I've found that other passengers can be quite helpful for example with over head storage and such.

I don't see why not your ur dc will love the quality time and my child tends to sleep more on holiday which will give you time to relax and unwind. You don't have to go sightseeing you can just enjoy the weather and the pool or beach area

To a beach resort?

Should be fine.

I guess it's a direct flight?

I've taken two children away alone from age 4, long haul around 6 times too. We've had fabulous times. I highly recommend it Smile

You'll be fine. Just bear in mind that if its just the two of you, you'll be his only amusement for the entire time! I flew with 3 young children to spain (they were 4, 3 and 1) and it was fine, we were just last out of everywhere (passport control, off the plane, getting luggage!) and I think it may have actually been easier in that the older 2 helped amuse the younger one and each other at times!

Thank you, to be honest its just really me and him (and the cat) any way and we do have good fun. It is a beach resort have been there before so plenty to do and I know my way round and the hotel is great for kids, entertainment. It was really just the airport, flight, transfer im concerned about. It has been fine before but that was with two people. Thinking he will be old enough to understand 'mum has to do x, y, z first then we'll play, be on our way, you can come out of this headlock etc.

Second a buggy, even if he's already out of one normally. Gives you somewhere to put him in the check-in queue, somewhere to sleep in the airport and obvs means you don't have to pick up and carry him. Check a case - don't try to do it on handluggage because then you end up toting so much stuff through the airport. See if your airport has family lanes, they're brilliant.

And gin, obvs.

You will be fine. Plan your packing, go Spanish time, eg sleep for both of you in pm, eat later in the evening, take a fold up buggy and lots of sun cream.

I took my dd on holiday to Spain on my own when she was 3. there were some hard times, and we did spend one night in the hotel room because she misbehaved so badly, but it was worth it. we had a good time and made a lot of memories from it, that she still remembers now, 3 years later!

Definitely second take a buggy and check in your luggage so you're not having to lug too much with you on the plane. Go for it and have a fantastic time!
