Been asked by my bridesmaids what sort of thing I'd like to do for my hen party and I just don't have a clue. I'm not even sure I want one - might just go for a few drinks and maybe a meal. Inspiration ladies?!

I got my hair done with my bridesmaids late afternoon. We incorporated this into a hair trial, with some fizz. We then hired a local tearoom and had music, games, drink and Buffett. Probably about thirty of us. Tenner a head. All included. Loved it. Good laugh with friends, no hassle or pressure.

I went into my local city with a group of girlfriends and did a cocktail making class then some food we then had a table at the same bar and partied the night away. Didn't want to travel. Didn't want to have an overnight away and everyone had a good time

I had 2. I went for an adults party weekend at Butlins with 5 other friends. Not everyone's cup of tea but it was a laugh.. The second one was with my workmates and was a party night at a hotel, 3 course meal & disco type thing. That was ace too.

Thanks fourpawswhite and Goondoit glad to see I'm not alone in wanting some food and drink but not a big night away.

Janeofalltrades1 Sounds lovely! My mum is treating me to a spa day by myself before the wedding and I can't bloody wait.

I went for a facial with my MOH at a Lush spa, came home and got a bit tiddly on Prosecco while watching our favourite movie and doing our make-up, then went for dinner at the pub with my best friends. It was perfect.

I went out for a pub crawl with my bridesmaids and ended up coming home in a shopping trolley! Blush

That was more than 30 years ago. I am really quite respectable now.

I got married abroad so didn't feel it was right to do anything too expensive. We went for a meal and some drinks then to a cheesy club. It was great.

Wine tasting followed by private dining. In bed (in hotel) by midnight, big breakfast together in the morning.

Went for a few drinks with some great mates. DH did the same. Massive look-at-me hen/stag parties were not for us. It's your decision.

Met at a city halfway between my two main groups of friends (train journey down in first class with cake!) and a really lovely Air BNB apartment. First night we went to see a show at the theatre, then back to the apartment for wine and nattering. The next day, we went to a pottery-painting workshop which is my idea of heaven! We all painted something different (the items were then glazed and fired and sent back to us by post a week or two later). That evening we went to a super fancy restaurant for our tea, then out for cocktails. We went home the next day. It was absolute bliss: just the right amount of alcohol, a small group of good friends (there were 6 of us), and activities that we all enjoyed (especially me!). Such good memories of my hen weekend away!

We did a life drawing class, which was pretty hilarious. Then a picnic in the park where we all brought a dish and played some games.

14 of us rented a massive house with hot tub etc (was actually very cheap as in unpopular part of the country and in winter!). Had a fancy dress party in the house the first night with lots of pizza, fizz and silly games. Did an outdoor activity on the Saturday then all dressed up in posh frocks and had a 3 course dinner with lots more fizz (all at the house). It was perfect and very affordable as we didn't spend money going out and did mass catering.

Meal at a pub, then stayed at one friends' house before going to the seaside for the day. We sat on the beach and ate fish and chips. None were bridesmaids though but were work friends who attended the wedding.

My bridesmaids were spread around the country and didn't know each other!

Nothing! Happily.

I quite like the chilled out ones like a meal out, or something like that. But I get really irritated at the whole weekend away thing. It's a lot to expect your friends to spend that much on you, when they will also have to spend on the wedding itself.

I might be a bit of a misery guts about it though, because I also cringe at angel wings or l plates!

We went to Dublin and stayed in a gorgeous hotel/apartment over a bar. Spent 3 days prancing about bars, restaurants, Browns and the Guinness storehouse in various states of pissed-up-ness. Came home with a hangover the size of Texas.

No penis straws, no tutus and no pageant-style-banners, just inappropriate shoes and too much lippy.

Loving your stories - all sound like great fun!

PNGirl All of my bridesmaids know each other except one who doesn't know any of the others which makes me a bit worried about plans!!

I am ancient and got married nearly 20 years ago...
One hen night with loads of friends in an Italian restaurant. Invited mother and mother in law.
Other hen night with 2 bridesmaids and other sister. Bowling with cocktails, then singalong Grease and then back for an Indian takeaway.

Went to Aqua Sana at Longleat for a day. Then for an impromptu pub meal. It was a very last minute decision. We were going to go to the beach and have a BBQ and games but, what with this being England and all, the weather was against us.

Five of us altogether, the closest females to me and it was lovely. :)

I went to a local (ish) lodge with about 10 close pals and family for 2 nights, First night we went to local hotel for drinks and a disco. 2nd night we had a meal and then more drinks. Did games and stuff in the lodges. It was 17 yrs ago now...I was dreading it a bit but it was good fun with good pals. For my sisters recently we reserved an area in a pub in town for a few drinks then got picked up in a disco bus which was lots of fun. We then went out for a meal and had some games and a bit of a dance after. She had a hair and make up done for it as part of her trial. It was a great night too - lots of fun. Think there can be a lot of hype around hen/stag nights -as long as you do whatever you would like to do with good pals/family you'll have a good time and it gives people the chance to get to know each other before the wedding xxx

g1ggloop that would be my ideal hen weekend!

doublecheese low key meal and drinks is cool! Have a think if you want a day time thing as well eh activity/afternoon tea. Not essential but if you have pregnant friends or friends with young children who might not be able to or want to come out drinking it gives them a way to be involved. Depends on who you'll be inviting of course!
