To be fed up of "me too"?

Any time i say to DP "I'm tired" or my foot is sore" or anything about me, it's met with a "me too" or "no I didn't sleep well" or "my spine has fallen out"

It's so fucking annoying! Like I'm not allowed to be the only one who's under the weather.

I've started doing it back to him but he doesn't notice.

Anyone else?

Why yes. Its very annoying. Like when you are in labour but your partner says their back hurts too

My dh does this sometimes. I think he's trying to say he understands how I feel but in reality I just want him to say "oh dear, poor you".

my dh actually did this when i was in labour with ds1 wizzy[ he had bad tonsillitis because he couldnt be arsed going to the Dr]And all the midwives were fussing around him but yeah i have a cold at the moment its just a bad cold but i have felt pretty rough and dh doesnt want me to pass it on to him as his would be so much worse...

Mine does that. He will even take to his bed in sympathy of my blinding headache/other illness. At least thats what I tell myself anyway because he couldn't possibly fein illness just to try and be worse than me surely?

I'm sure when people do this, they are trying to empathise, not compete - they are trying to say 'I hear you, here's the experience I'm drawing on, please elucidate'..

I do think it's just people trying to demonstrate their empathy, and perhaps an attempt to stop the conversation there. DH would probably claim to have period pain if he thought it would put a lid on my grumbling.

I am never allowed to be the tired/injured/ill one.

Also, he is NEVER not tired/injured/ill. All the time. Then I'm accused of not giving him enough sympathy!

So you're complaining that DP has the same problems as you, and asking a group of strangers is they also have the same issue? Isn't that what you're annoyed about in the first place?

DP does this! I don't think it is on purpose but NO ONE can be ill in our house without him coming out in sympathy!

My DH CONSTANTLY "has a cold coming on." I can be dying of pneumonia (exaggerating for effect) and he will still be worse as he has a "cold coming on."

I know how you feel. I feel like I'm never "allowed" to be ill. My DH also has a sudden chest infection manifest whenever he needs to do a bit of DIY.

My OH somehow has all my pregnancy symptoms And he doesn't get a bog standard sore throat like me, he only gets tonsillitis...

Oh yes DP is like this, he can't stand me being ill but with him we've got to the stage where I only allow him to complain about one imaginary health problem a day (he's a marathon runner and fighting fit).

We once had a weekend in Barcelona, I had been feeling a bit peaky before we went and deteriorated rapidly... he kept saying I was definitely looking better. I ended up in A&E when I got home as I was coughing up blood. He apologised.

My DH does this all the time.
A few years ago I developed a major stomach infection which had me hospitalised for a week (1 in 10 die from it - a fact I only found out after the event ). When we went to bed that night I was starting to feel really rough and said to my DH that I had a stomach ache and wasn't feeling great. So did he! But only one of us was on a morphine drip a few hours later to manage the pain.
