Handhold needed after awful, awful day

Family wedding. My phone got knocked off a table at the registry office and now isn't working. At the reception I was upset which somehow led to being pushed over my dad, by the face (not sure if that makes sense but he kind of hit/pushed me over at once). Came home. Contacted my ex who I'd been talking to this morning (and longer term have been considering seeing again) saying 'that was a horrific day' he asked why and I told him and his response was 'oh. I thought someone had died. I'm sorry you've had a bad day but I'm not sure what to say'.
I can't contact anyone else as I don't use facebook, I need a handhold :(

Fuck, that's a horrible day. Do you need to talk about what happened with your dad?

So sorry Sad

Did your dad hit/push you on purpose?

handhold That is a shitty day but in a week you'll look back with nothing more than an eye roll. It sometimes works for me if I focus on that - I just need to ride it out for a day or two and then it'll fade into insignificance.

Flowers poor you, what an awful day. Your dad is an asshole.

Poor you, too many bad things happening add up to an overload.
YANBU to ask for help.
I'm not sure what else to say except you had a terrible day and many on here will feel so much for you.

Grim day, you poor thing! Do you have wine/chocolate/TV/sofa/hot bath etc to improve the end of the day?

It wasn't particularly aggressive, if that makes sense. He was angry but not uncontrollably so. I just wasn't expecting it and went over. We were round the corner away from everyone else and when I went back in, trying not to cry, was met by dirty looks by him as if daring me to say something. This was hours ago now and I'm still so upset and angry

That sounds frustrating and upsetting, I wouldn't be hurrying to get back with your ex. Can you treat yourself tonight somehow - some treaty food/drink in the house or a comforting film to watch?

ThreeLeggedHaggis · 19/04/2017 20:44

Bleurghghghgh That is awful. You don't deserve for anybody to treat you like that. Be kind to yourself. Flowers

Your Dad sounds awful -was he pissed or just nasty?! If anyone did that to me I would be NC immediately (bar any mental health/medical issues that may have contributed) Flowers

Your dad sounds absolutely horrible and your ex boyfriend sounds useless at comforting you. For that reason I wouldn't get back with him - when you needed help, he wasn't there for you.

Why were you upset at the reception? (Before the thing with your dad, that is?)

So sorry to hear about your day. OP Sad

As a previous poster mentioned, do you have any nice food or drink in that you could have tonight to ttest yourself to? Or a film or something you could watch? Flowers

Oak because my phone had been knocked over/broken. I wasn't visibly upset/crying or anything just a bit quiet and pissed off

Ex continues to cover himself in glory. My response to his 'I don't know what you want me to say' was something along the lines of 'I'd appreciate a bit of sympathy, really'
His response:
^it may be because no one you know or low level cares about you is remotely surprised. your dad has consistently shown himself to be a pretty fucking horrible human being. if it was me I wouldn't want anything to do with him and you won't find surprise nor sympathy from me when it comes to his various monstrosities.

you can put him in jail where he belongs. or at least you could have done at one point.

far be it from me to tell you how to run your life, though.^

He is right, my dad is a twat. Not entirely sure that totally negates me needing sympathy, though.

I just want to sleep but I can't. Urgh.

Ah, that makes sense.

However, it also looks like your ex boyfriend is both right about your dad AND an ex for a reason.

Tomorrow is another day. Possibly a day on which you think hard about the sort of relationship you want with your dad?

I'm sorry you are feeling shit.

Your ex sounds angry for you.

Report
Foxysoxy01 · 19/04/2017 21:01

Sack them both off.

You really don't need people like that in your life!

Make today a positive day where you learnt that your ex is an ex for a reason and your dad's a twat, then spend your time finding people that enrich your life.

Your ex should stay an ex. He's right about your dad but he's also a nasty piece of work himself.

Report
SquinkiesRule · 19/04/2017 21:04

Your Ex seems to have the measure of your Dad, and at the same time sounds like a dick himself. I'd hold off getting back with him, he's an ex for a reason.
