Family wedding. My phone got knocked off a table at the registry office and now isn't working. At the reception I was upset which somehow led to being pushed over my dad, by the face (not sure if that makes sense but he kind of hit/pushed me over at once). Came home. Contacted my ex who I'd been talking to this morning (and longer term have been considering seeing again) saying 'that was a horrific day' he asked why and I told him and his response was 'oh. I thought someone had died. I'm sorry you've had a bad day but I'm not sure what to say'.
I can't contact anyone else as I don't use facebook, I need a handhold sad

Fuck, that's a horrible day. Do you need to talk about what happened with your dad?

So sorry sad

ThreeLeggedHaggis Wed 19-Apr-17 20:40:51

Did your dad hit/push you on purpose?

handhold That is a shitty day but in a week you'll look back with nothing more than an eye roll. It sometimes works for me if I focus on that - I just need to ride it out for a day or two and then it'll fade into insignificance.

flowers poor you, what an awful day. Your dad is an asshole.

John4703 Wed 19-Apr-17 20:41:52

Poor you, too many bad things happening add up to an overload.
YANBU to ask for help.
I'm not sure what else to say except you had a terrible day and many on here will feel so much for you.

CaoNiMartacus Wed 19-Apr-17 20:41:57

* holds hand *

That sounds like a thoroughly horrible day.

yellowfrog Wed 19-Apr-17 20:42:45

Grim day, you poor thing! Do you have wine/chocolate/TV/sofa/hot bath etc to improve the end of the day?

Bleurghghghgh Wed 19-Apr-17 20:43:34

It wasn't particularly aggressive, if that makes sense. He was angry but not uncontrollably so. I just wasn't expecting it and went over. We were round the corner away from everyone else and when I went back in, trying not to cry, was met by dirty looks by him as if daring me to say something. This was hours ago now and I'm still so upset and angry

Butterymuffin Wed 19-Apr-17 20:43:48

That sounds frustrating and upsetting, I wouldn't be hurrying to get back with your ex. Can you treat yourself tonight somehow - some treaty food/drink in the house or a comforting film to watch?

ThreeLeggedHaggis Wed 19-Apr-17 20:44:49

Bleurghghghgh That is awful. You don't deserve for anybody to treat you like that. Be kind to yourself. flowers

TheWitTank Wed 19-Apr-17 20:44:56

That's awful! Poor you holds hand
Your Dad sounds awful -was he pissed or just nasty?! If anyone did that to me I would be NC immediately (bar any mental health/medical issues that may have contributed) flowers

ImperialBlether Wed 19-Apr-17 20:45:20

Your dad sounds absolutely horrible and your ex boyfriend sounds useless at comforting you. For that reason I wouldn't get back with him - when you needed help, he wasn't there for you.

Oakmaiden Wed 19-Apr-17 20:46:04

Why were you upset at the reception? (Before the thing with your dad, that is?)

Pariswhenitdrizzles Wed 19-Apr-17 20:48:05

So sorry to hear about your day. OP sad

As a previous poster mentioned, do you have any nice food or drink in that you could have tonight to ttest yourself to? Or a film or something you could watch? flowers

Pariswhenitdrizzles Wed 19-Apr-17 20:48:29

*treat yourself to

Kittykatclaws Wed 19-Apr-17 20:49:28

Your dad sounds awful! Sorry you've had such a shitty day!

Have you any leftover Easter eggs? If so eat them all! flowers

BrutusMcDogface Wed 19-Apr-17 20:50:26

Aw, you poor thing sad definitely go non contact with your dad. How dare he do that to you!? Its assault and should really be reported to the police!

Also stay away from the ex.

Bleurghghghgh Wed 19-Apr-17 20:52:39

Oak because my phone had been knocked over/broken. I wasn't visibly upset/crying or anything just a bit quiet and pissed off

Bleurghghghgh Wed 19-Apr-17 20:56:54

Ex continues to cover himself in glory. My response to his 'I don't know what you want me to say' was something along the lines of 'I'd appreciate a bit of sympathy, really'
His response:
^it may be because no one you know or low level cares about you is remotely surprised. your dad has consistently shown himself to be a pretty fucking horrible human being. if it was me I wouldn't want anything to do with him and you won't find surprise nor sympathy from me when it comes to his various monstrosities.

you can put him in jail where he belongs. or at least you could have done at one point.

far be it from me to tell you how to run your life, though.^

He is right, my dad is a twat. Not entirely sure that totally negates me needing sympathy, though.

I just want to sleep but I can't. Urgh.

Bleurghghghgh Wed 19-Apr-17 20:57:35

italic fail

Oakmaiden Wed 19-Apr-17 21:00:14

Ah, that makes sense.

However, it also looks like your ex boyfriend is both right about your dad AND an ex for a reason.

Tomorrow is another day. Possibly a day on which you think hard about the sort of relationship you want with your dad?

I'm sorry you are feeling shit.

ChasedByBees Wed 19-Apr-17 21:00:44

Your ex sounds angry for you.

Foxysoxy01 Wed 19-Apr-17 21:01:55

Sack them both off.

You really don't need people like that in your life!

Make today a positive day where you learnt that your ex is an ex for a reason and your dad's a twat, then spend your time finding people that enrich your life.

Graceflorrick Wed 19-Apr-17 21:02:03

Your father sounds awful OP. Sorry you've had such an awful day flowers

RhiWrites Wed 19-Apr-17 21:02:18

Your ex should stay an ex. He's right about your dad but he's also a nasty piece of work himself.
