Random people sleeping outside my house

Not really AIBU, more of an I'm-not-sure-if-this-is-ok situation...

Came home from family party at about 11.30pm to find a campervan parked outside our house, with a family inside getting ready for bed. (They hadn't closed the curtains, so we could actually see them getting changed!)

Are you allowed to just park a camper anywhere?

My DH is quite cross about it, but that might just be because they've nicked his favourite parking space!

If it is just for a night the police won't be interested. If it is long term, it is probably illegal, but will be a civil matter. So Land Owner has to go to court to get them evicted.

Probably just a family Easter get together nearby where they didn't have enough beds to go round. Bet they'll be gone in the morning.
It's probably illegal but unless they empty the toilet contents on your drive police won't do anything.
Have you seen " Lady in the Van?"

Sounds cool. Except for getting changed with out the curtains pulled, that's just exhibitionist Wink

If it's taxed and you live on a normal street they can park there. I imagine it'll be for the night. I wouldn't have a problem with it as long as they're not parked on your property.
I assumed from the thread title someone was asleep in the open air either on your property or in the street. That would bother me tbh.

Seems an odd thing to care about. I'd be nosy, but not bothered.

Grin I watched Lady in the Van last night so I'd be shitting myself!
I would also assume they're staying near relatives for the BH, they'll be gone tomorrow or in 15 years

You arent allowed no, but i dont think the police would do much unless it had been there for a while!
I bet it was just for Easter because they couldnt fit in the house so id imagine they will be gone by Tuesday.

I can now finally see the point of a camper van!
