That's within 15 mins of a major city. Is this just dreaming. Bournemouth would be ideal. Theres lots of bungalows that need a referb for the price, but they are too close to the neighbours for my liking - barely detached

Not dreaming but you are dreaming if you want near Bmouth. Stick near Portsmouth loads of houses like that for sale.

You'd get semi detached or terraced for that in Bournemouth. I'd expect to pay more for a 3 bed with a garden that isn't overlooked in Bournemouth. Slightly further afield you'd manage it though!

You could get that in one of the more grotty areas of Bournemouth, I think. But I would personally stick away from that as they can be surprisingly not that nice (no offence to anyone at all). Perhaps look further west towards Dorchester area? Tends to be cheaper and some lovely coastline nearby but obviously transport links not as good.

Hello OP are you me?! Try over the border into Poole maybe? Or as PP said over towards Dorchester.

PS Bournemouth isn't a city Wink

This is nice. The one next door is for sale too - bit cheaper.

Gosport is cheap for a reason, it does have some unsavoury people there and the 1 road in and out make it a no go for commuters. Try waterlooville or havant or other areas around Portsmouth OP.

Fareham, Havant, Denmead, Waterlooville, Drayton - all close to Portsmouth and Southampton.

😂 everywhere has unsavoury people - just pick your area of a town.

Report
FanaticalFox · 16/04/2017 12:54

Thats true but if you're a commuter then that rules gosport out too..unless you work in gosport or fareham as well.

Come to Worthing!!! Bargains here, 15 mins to Brighton on the train, great for Families!!!!

I find Dorchester a bit small, Poole is good though. What are the areas to avoid there?

Are you looking typed in the area?

Not sure about Worthing, not a huge fan of Brighton and i know someone that moved to little Hampton and found it a bit insular, so moved again.

I like that house Lara, but the garden is too small and overlooked for me.

Depends on what area of Bournemouth you're looking at!
I live in Bournemouth, it's lovely!
But there are some areas I wouldn't live and some that you won't get what you want for that budget.

Are there any areas you would recommend for me to look in? I'd compromise on a 2 bed.

Your budget is tight for a 3 bed detached down here. A semi with a medium size garden is doable but not a detached with a large garden. I have been down here for 17 years and the prices now are hideous.

I like Southampton. Or look out towards blandford or wareham and you will get a lovely place for your budget.

Try parts of Southampton? Totton, woolston, Netley, Hamble, possibly Eastleigh/Fair Oak.

Oh just seen you want detached! Probably a bit tight for detached, that's more like semi/terrace budget

Depends really what you want.
I like being a 15min walk to the beach, and close to some nice places to eat.

Westbourne and Southbourne are good for that. Westbourne is more expensive.

I wouldn't live in Boscombe (known for lots of drug rehab places and in need of regeneration) however the closer to the beach you get there the better it is.

Pokesdown and Southbourne are good for primary schools. I'm in this sort of area and am walking distance to 6 or 7 primary's I'd be happy with, plus a couple of secondary's.

Throop is nice but the houses can be small. Very scenic though.

Lots of choice! X

Thanks, i searched for pokesdown within a mile and came up with this. Although the a road nearby and close to boscombe seems like a no no. I'm guessing it's a repo

This looks great, but same location issues.

A bit close to the neighbours and slightly over but i love the room sizes and the woods at the back

This one is half done, but looks perfect until you find out it backs onto the a road :(

divadee are you talking about being in Bournemouth?

I think i need to visit Southampton thanks for the area suggestions, it's sadly never grabbed me like Bournemouth does but I'm dreaming of getting what i want in Bournemouth. Exeter is lovely it's just a bit too out there for me.

From what I recall from friends down that way, that kind of money would get you LOADS around Exeter. And it's gorgeous down there if you can be that far west?
