DD is 9, she's wants a sleepover with DP's nephew who's 11.
They want to sleep in DD room so they can chat, watch YouTube, play PlayStation etc....what's your thoughts?

What's the problem? Does the nephew sleep well at other people's houses?

TinfoilHattie Fri 14-Apr-17 15:38:58

God no, they'll totally be having sex all night.

hmm Because that's what you're getting at, isn't it?

ragz134 Fri 14-Apr-17 15:39:13

I wouldn't have a problem with that. Obviously check on them and what they may be watching at regular intervals, as you would if it were two same sex children.

PotteringAlong Fri 14-Apr-17 15:39:23

Noooo! Don't do it! She'll be pregnant in the first 30 mins hmm

CaulkheadNorth Fri 14-Apr-17 15:39:42

It's fine.

Not sure what the 'issue' would be

DorisMcSweeney Fri 14-Apr-17 15:40:12

Make sure you provide enough Archers & Lemonade to keep them going

BeesButterflies Fri 14-Apr-17 15:41:44

DD's DD thinks it's inappropriate! nephew sleeps out ok.
This is DD 1st sleepover, and obvs if it was a niece sleeping they would share a room. It didn't cross my mind that it would be a issue until DD repeated what her DD had said

Grilledaubergines Fri 14-Apr-17 15:41:59

Don't do it OP. All boys are a risk to girls, you never know what may happen.

Segregation at all times is a must.

CurlyMango Fri 14-Apr-17 15:41:59

Let them!

BeesButterflies Fri 14-Apr-17 15:46:58

Just to clarify....I don't have a problem with it- it's my DD Ddad who does. And then I wondered...umm what do other people do

Nanny0gg Fri 14-Apr-17 15:46:59

Not sure about the YouTube aspect as you can't monitor or control what they watch.

<misses point>

LadyPW Fri 14-Apr-17 16:04:26

All those DD's are a bit confusing! Though if DD has a DD already then maybe nephew shouldn't be allowed because she's obviously "that" type of girl.....

harderandharder2breathe Fri 14-Apr-17 17:10:41

Not a problem at all. I shared a room with my sister and a boy at that age when family friends came to stay, he wasn't even related to me shock horror! I managed somehow to avoid having sex with him

Darbs76 Fri 14-Apr-17 17:13:57

No objection from me - my 12yr old Ds and 9yr old DD still share a room

Giddyaunt18 Fri 14-Apr-17 18:10:27

What's a DDAD?

Giddyaunt18 Fri 14-Apr-17 18:11:47

Your 12 year old DD(darling daughter) has a DD already?

Funnyfarmer Fri 14-Apr-17 18:21:30

Just for change I'm going to disagree with the majority.
I feel it all depends on children in question. Is the boy mature for is age? Ie is he going through purity? It's possible. I would be worried. If you or your dp feel you know him enough and feel that he's not quite ready for looking at girls in that way I don't see a problem.
I've read many accounts of pre teens abusing younger relatives. Not suggesting this could happen with your family at all but it does happen and I can understand yours or dd df's concern. As regards to wwid I honestly don't know. For me it would depend on how well I knew the boy

Lovelilies Fri 14-Apr-17 18:30:38

I wouldn't.
My DD is 11 and fully developed. Not saying anything would happen but 9 and 11 are miles apart in terms of development.
If they don't share a room, nothing will happen.

BeesButterflies Fri 14-Apr-17 18:54:27

No my 9 yr old DD doesn't have a DD. When I said DDad I was referring to my daughters dad..sorry I should have been clearer

BeesButterflies Fri 14-Apr-17 18:55:25

The nephew is def not interested in girls in that way, he's a young 11

Giddyaunt18 Fri 14-Apr-17 19:23:42

Oh right so that's her DF(darling father). Well I guess it's something you need to discuss with him but I think Dads can be a bit out of touch with age stages. I think they'll be ok at that age and actually splitting them up will make them think they are somehow doing something wrong.

Tallulahoola Fri 14-Apr-17 20:30:07

If he's a young 11 and you think it's all completely innocent, then fine.

Though I hate to break it to people on here, but when I was growing up I knew several kids having sex at 12.

2gorgeousboys Fri 14-Apr-17 20:35:48

I think it's fine. DS2's best friends at primary school were girls and he went to a couple of sleepovers at one girls house where he and 2 female friends shared a room. All completely innocent aged 10.

We have family friends who come to visit and we go to stay with them and all the children pile into one room so DS1 (16), DS2 (12) and their girls (8) and (6) share a room.
