AIBU?

To expect my DH to deal with my Asda delivery fuck up?

Yesterday i started an Asda delivery order and thought I'd booked it for Wednesday. To keep my door slot i ordered the most expensive champagne available, thinking i would get it all sorted today. However I've just realised on waking up that my order is booked for today! So i have some champagne and a few other things coming. I'm also working and my DH is off with the kids. So, he's asleep right now but I'm going to have to phone him from work and tell him to get a refund on the champagne. He's not going to be impressed and I feel like a right fool! The other option is to keep the champagne but it's a huge waste of money! Idiot!

Try phoning ASDA and cancelling it, I've done this before.

Why did you order champagne if you don't want it? Alternatively keep it and drink it!

Thanks Scottish! Just called and cancelled! I ordered champagne to hold my slot, intending to amend it later- silly i know but I've done it loads of times and it's been fine. 🍾

Call them and try to cancel.
Or i think you can refuse the item at the doorstop? I've done this with Tesco when I accidently over ordered an item.
Or take the Champagne to store to return it.
The last 2 would be a waste of a delivery fee but cheaper than Champange.

I hold my slot with champagne - one day I will make a mistake and end up with a shop with only champagne and no food. Glad you've been able to cancel it.

So, he's asleep right now but I'm going to have to phone him from work and tell him to get a refund on the champagne.

But why do you expect him to deal with your fuck up?

Presumably if you can get a refund on champagne, you can get the refund for up to 30 days so no need to expect your husband to fix it.

Glad it's sorted, anyway.

I'm really confused... how does putting a bottle of champagne on an order keep your slot?

I would imagine that the champagne brings the order value to the minimum needed for delivery, allowing things to be added to the order.

I do this sometimes too. Don't have time to do the online shop so reserve the slot and stick a couple of bottles of whiskey in the basket to bring it up to the £40 minimum, then go back later and amend the order to what I actually need to buy.

I book a time slot a few days before I go through the pain of actually working out what we are going to order. If I leave it until the point where I am ready to do the order there won't be any slots left on the day/time I want.
So a few days before I check out an order with a bottle of champagne for £45. Then up until the deadline for amending my order I can order what we actually want. And remove the champagne Grin

Ha ha! We used do this, especially when Tesco switched from £25 minimum shop to £40. But we used little packs of Saucisson sausages as they were never in stock. Well one day they were. Some milk and basic household items turned up with a whole crate of saussicon! Blush

I have a delivery pass from Morrisons so not so bad but when I order from Tesco I have to book my slot ahead as the cheap slots go fast. I need a minimum order of £40 so I usually bung in a few bottles of brandy to hold the place and then tweak the order in the run up. Mind you, if all I got delivered was a few bottles of brandy I wouldn't send the brandy back.

When father was still living with us, he was a serious drinker and when Asda had a good deal on his favourite whisky I checked the t&cs. You could only have a maximum of three bottles per delivery. I had about four deliveries that week, each one with three of the bottles in them. I have never forgotten the face of the driver when he handed over just three bottles of whisky and a bag of cat litter. The deal made the delivery charge worth it. Asda must have thought we were all dipsomaniacs. The whisky lasted a few months and saved a fortune.

with Tesco dont they take the delivery fee off when you get to 40? You can check out with a 10 shop, then keep adding until it gets to above 40.

I use 2 bottles pf southern comfort to reserve mine, only forgot to amend it once :)

I've never understood people who keep their slot by adding champagne or 40 ice lollies - just re-order your last shop! It can be done in about three clicks! Then if you forget to amend at least you have useful stuff... (unless your last shop was champagne and 40 ice lollies!)

I have done that myself.
I took the champagne, kept the delivery note and wet back to the store for a full refund.
No issue at all.

The delivery driver was quite amused when I explained. He thought someone had delivered that bottle as a gift for me!

I would have said this was [insert your higher power of choice here]'s way of getting you to quaff expensive champagne. Why on earth did you not read the signs?????

Grin And where do you get that champagne icon from?

Report
BluePeppersAndBroccoli · 11/04/2017 08:59

little I suppose it depends on how you do your shopping.
I would find it much more of pain to modify an order with 40 items on it, being careful that I'm not forgetting to remove one thing etc... than going champagne, remove and then my order normally.

Btw, I don't see any issue with yu R DH dealing with.
You are all part of a team aren't you? And shopping isn't just yur responsibility?

But why do you expect him to deal with your fuck up?

Because married people act like a team? And this is a relatively quick fix in the grand scheme of things?

I've had about half a dozen bottles of champagne delivered (and no food) over the years. i like champagne, it never goes to waste. Grin

I buy different things each week. Would be more of a hassle to reorder last week's and then have to work out what I didn't need etc. Easier to do the champagne Smile

I don't 'expect' or 'tell' my DH to fix my fuck ups. If I need him to do something, I ask him.

That's why I asked OP why she expects it, in case there is a backstory e.g. he is lazy and does fuck all.

I do that with the champagne too! Only forgot it once (Sainsbury's) but I called them first thing and they got it cancelled for me
