AIBU?

That my diet is no one else's business?

To elaborate, I eat relatively healthy. I don't drink, I eat home cooked meals 6 out of 7 nights (and the 7th is usually just heating stuff up in the oven) I do snack admittedly, and I have a sweet tooth but other than that i would say I'm healthy ish!

I'm also a size 10 although with the job I'm in I started a year ago I'm sat more so my weight is starting to creep up.

Anyway, I was at work today and the conversation was flowing probably about food and my manager came out with how bad my diet is. I said 'sorry?' And then he said it again. I just replied with 'how rude' and kept working 😀

Later on in the day, me and a colleague were talking about what we did at the weekend and I mentioned I had a frappucino and again, my manager popped up and said 'you really do have an awful diet'

I am really hormonal and pms-y this week so am probably just taking it to heart and the fact I'm 26 and he's about 50 so I feel like I'm being told off. But it really upset me. Am I being stupid?!

Writing this down it sounds stupid 😬

Yanbu, fuck the food police. Food isn't "good" or "naughty" and the most unhealthy diet is one that makes you miserable.

Does he have a daughter your age? If so he might be slipping into parent mode by accident - just ignore him

Nope, just sons older than me. I think if it happens tomorrow I may say something a bit more feisty and blame the hormones! 😁

I honestly can't understand why anyone gives a shit about what anyone else is eating, I don't even notice!

if all he sees you eating is crisps, cake and pies at work and frappucinos at the weekend then you do sound to have an awful diet to him

It's none of his business obviously

But having said that, you've only mentioned what you eat at night, rather than what you eat at work?

Unless you work at night, in which case just ignore me Grin

Take in a box of chocolate éclairs and eat them all while eyeballing him Wink He sounds like an idiot.

How on earth does he know what you eat?

Your first response was spot on, "How rude".

What you eat is none of his business. How rude.

Very rude.

Perhaps next time he says anything, you say 'that is the third time you have commented on my food choices in 2 days - is there some reason which makes you think that's OK?'

Agree with Beryl Spot on!! That should shut him up!!

Ask him outright.

He probably has no idea of the impact of his comments and thinks he is being helpful. Sometimes it's easy not to region what it is you're actually eating.

I don't care if you're mainlining donuts and Red Bull at your desk, he's still a rude & patronising git.
