DP ate DD's sweets

DD had some sweets given to her at nursery. We said she could have a few then put the rest away. DP has eaten almost all the rest. I think this is not very nice and he can't seem to see a problem. When I was a child we kept sweets and ate a few at a time and no one took them. AIBU to be pissed off with him?

YANBU

My ex used to do this, the greedy twat.

Imaginingdragonsagain Mon 10-Apr-17 20:42:59

Buy some more and she won't notice?

Trifleorbust Mon 10-Apr-17 20:43:17

Who eats kids' sweets?

CauliflowerSqueeze Mon 10-Apr-17 20:43:48

He can eat them if he replaces them before she notices?

Starlighter Mon 10-Apr-17 20:43:50

That's so mean! He needs to replace them.

NotTheBelleoftheBall Mon 10-Apr-17 20:44:24

I would totally do this. BUT only if I could replace them surreptitiously before DD noticed they were gone.

Cynara Mon 10-Apr-17 20:44:33

Definitely YANBU. Poor little girl. I ate a bag of DS's chocolate buttons once because I was on my period and needed them. I felt absolutely awful and replaced them the next day. Your DP was greedy and selfish, I'm not surprised you're not happy.

Yanbu

As she gets older, if she knows any treats she wants to save for later will get eaten, she won't want to save them for later. Whereas it's generally good to be able to save treats for later.

NotTheBelleoftheBall Mon 10-Apr-17 20:44:42

I am a known greedy guys.

NotTheBelleoftheBall Mon 10-Apr-17 20:45:05

*I am a known greedy GUTS

Agree he needs to replace them. Its mean. She wont want to eat just a few next time if she thinks he is just going to eat them when she is out of sight.

myusernameisnotmyusername Mon 10-Apr-17 20:46:02

He says he will but he still owes her marshmallows his dad bought her a couple of Christmasases ago. He just doesn't get the problem. I think if she thinks this will happen it will be more difficult to get her to leave them in future. He keeps saying to stop going on about it but I really think it's mean and shows complete lack of self control. I'm so annoyed with him!

shyturnip Mon 10-Apr-17 20:46:07

That's really mean. Is dp her father?

Ellieboolou27 Mon 10-Apr-17 20:46:17

Meh, I've eaten an Easter egg that was brought for my dd blush

myusernameisnotmyusername Mon 10-Apr-17 20:47:39

And they were in a nice little package as well and I know there were a few in there she was looking forward to. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this is mean. I'm actually a bit ashamed of him!

ZigZagIntoTheBlue Mon 10-Apr-17 20:48:53

My bil is like this, my dniece knows they have to hide chocolate from daddy sad

myusernameisnotmyusername Mon 10-Apr-17 20:49:10

Yes he is turnip. I don't really get the relevance of that though confused

myusernameisnotmyusername Mon 10-Apr-17 20:50:25

His only saving grace is they've been in the cupboard a few days and she seems to have forgotten about them. But it's the principle of it.

OhDearToby Mon 10-Apr-17 20:50:29

That isn't on at all. I might snaffle one if there are loads but never enough for dd to notice.

isthistoonosy Mon 10-Apr-17 20:51:07

We do this all the time, we always leave some and tbh they dont need the amount they get or miss what we eat. I guess as they get older they will start to notice and we will stop.

catscurledupbythefire Mon 10-Apr-17 20:51:16

I ate DCs Easter eggs. DH was NOT impressed. YANBU.

CottonSock Mon 10-Apr-17 20:51:25

I do it. My dd doesn't notice and is bordering on overweight

BrutusMcDogface Mon 10-Apr-17 20:53:40

My kids are happy to share! And we share our treats with them. hopefully she's forgotten but I agree with you in principle that it's not going to help her learn to save some for later if daddy will just eat them! Luckily my kids don't seem to care.
