AIBU?

Atkins Milkshakes VS Slimfast Milkshakes

I'd love some help! I can't find enough information on line to help me decide.

I've lost weight before using Slimfast (2 milkshakes a day and a very small meal). I've got 3 stone to rid myself of now (age, menopause, general laziness etc). I'm not brilliant at sensible eating, and milkshakes are an easy option.

Would Slimfast work for me or should I be doing the whole New Atkins diet? And can Atkins milkshakes be drunk during Phase 1 of Atkins Diet? All recommendations and experiences welcome - especially from those aged around 50.

I guess there's no AIBU, except that I couldn't find any really useful information on line.

I love the Atkins diet. I'm never hungry in it due to being in ketosis and I find the weight loss is a little faster than other diets. It's different from the original Atkins as you can eat a lot more veg so it's quite well balanced. I'm not keen on the shakes as they give me a funny stomach but they do taste nice. I LOVE the bars though and they don't canuse me any ill effects! If you're vegetarian the diet is harder, though not impossible. Have you looked at the Atkins website? It's really useful and has a full list of allowed foods for each phase.

I would guess that slimming world would be a better option long term!

Less processed food, half your plate with veg and a quarter each for carbs and protein keeping your diet balanced.

Meal replacements ring my alarm bells though I know they work for some I would worry about long term effects (and being a miserable sod while I am using them)

I'm happy using Milkshakes (nothing else - eg. Atkins bars, snacks, meals etc). Ideally 2 milkshakes a day then a small normal sort of meal. I have looked on the Atkins website, but can't find anything about whether the Milkshakes are suitable for Phase 1 (and I probably need Phase 1 for a good few weeks). I do like the sound of the Atkins Diet. I guess I'm hoping for a quick, easy (Milkshake) fix to my 3 stone problem!

I've lost over 2 stone since January on Slim n Save. Much nicer products than Slimfast, and a much better diet too.

Have a look on their website and see what you think! :)

I think you can have shakes on phase 1. They used to label products according to phase, but bars that used to be only for phase 2, are now suitable for phase 1, and I think this is true for all products. If it doesn't specify on the label, it's OK for all phases.

Oh yes, sychnant is right, slim and save products are nice but most aren't suitable for use with Atkins as the carb content is too high. They are designed for total food replacement diets.

Slim n Save is 70g limit of carbs a day, so it's not as low as a proper low carb diet, but it really does work. You can have 4 packs a day, plus 200g veg and a milk allowance if you want, or you can replace one pack with 100 protein and 200g veg as your evening meal.

There are some fab ideas on the website for meals, and different things to do with the packs. Making milkshakes into waffles is probably my favourite!

I've never heard of Slim n Save. I'm off to Google - thank you! I'm not bothered one way or the other on Low Carbs. Just want something that will work, that I can stick to!
