AIBU?

AIB Unreasonably cross about insurance company and their sloppy admin

DH and I have been getting new quotes for life and critical illness insurance.

We were sent five separate big envelopes through the post to proof read and return. There was one for each policy, all with very personal medical details included

The envelopes were addressed like this:

Mr Kavv
X Kavv's road
Kavvtown
AB12CD

So no house number on any of them, just an X. AIBU to wonder what the hell they are playing at?

At least they got to you. If they had gone elsewhere this would be a data protection breach so you could complain and get decent compensation. However at best its an error and if they can't even get that right i would take your business elsewhere.

I'm in despair with sloppy admin. Over the last few months I've found out that three different companies have failed to cancel policies after I have called to cancel. That on top of a whole lot more utter rubbish service issues.

Yours sounds quite minor in comparison but YANBU as it could have gone astray or contained very sensitive info and fallen into the wrong hands.

Are they all from the same company? I'd assume that they set up a 'client' profile for you and then generate all quotes from that. So it's one mistake that gets filtered down rather than 5 separate mistakes iykwim?

So yes it's a bit rubbish. Cross is a bit much. I think I'd be very very slightly miffed.

Oh water companies are the worst for sloppy admin! Changing water companies. Old one still hasn't sent the final bill for one property - I changed provider six months ago. One company only provided a contract for one property, which was addressed to the wrong property, after waiting two weeks for that to be corrected I cancelled the move to them. The third company everything seemed to go smoothly - but they didn't take any money. I phoned them after two months asking when they would start taking the money (by direct debit) and they told me I must not have sent back the direct debit form. Only to have them get back in touch three hours later to say oops, yes, we have the form. But they just hadn't done a damn thing with it. Sigh.

It shouldn't be this hard to get that right. Op, YANBU.
