To feel sad that the term feminism is now considered more of an insult than a compliment

It is sad, I agree.

When has it ever been considered a compliment? I cannot recall a time.

It doesn't bother me. As far as I'm concerned, any movement that, after all these years, still manages to get up so many people's noses, must be doing something right.

Yep. It's depressing. It's the most maligned rights movement, which speaks to an extremely deep seated structural misogyny.

I mean, it's like this:

"I'm a civil rights activist."
"Cool. Good work."

"I support gay rights."
"Nice one."

"I'm a feminist."
"Oh my god. What. That's awful. Why?" etc. etc.

That's because all other movements concern rights of men, just weighed down by various disadvantages. Lesbian rights activists would get the same derision as feminists if not more.

Like some great woman said:"When men are oppressed - it's a tragedy. When women are oppressed - it's tradition."
