AIBU?

AIBU to ask how you feel about your menfolk's sexist tattoos?

I saw my SIL in shorts today and he has a tattoo on his calf of a woman with her knickers round her ankles. It's not explicit in any way, but it did make me wonder how my daughter feels about it, and how both of them will discuss it with future kids of either sex. I haven't asked my daughter, because she's struggling with depression at the moment, and in any case, it's none of my business: they seem to get on very well, and are very happy together. But I did wonder how other women feel about it.

I don't know any men who have sexist tattoos, and never have. And I'm a metal head, so know a lot of men with tattoos. If I did meet someone who had one I'd think they were a dick, and avoid them.

I don't like tattoos on anyone, so I wouldn't be happy anyway.

I guess it's not a deal breaker for her.

It would be an instant turn off for me.

All tattoos are grim IMHO so it wouldn't happen in my world.

I've not seen a proper sexist boobs on display tattoo for many years. I can't imagine they entice many women - I think you'd like him in spite of the tattoo, not because of it.

I have two quite sexy faeries tattooed on me. But nothing obviously sexy. Subtly sexy.

I'd think you don't get that inked if you don't fundamentally think it's OK to objectify women. In perpetuity.

Cocklodger · 08/04/2017 22:02

I would take it as someone happy to objectify women and avoid. I'd struggle to be friends with them let alone anything more.

I'd struggle with this too and it's not something I've seen before in terms of a tattoo so derogatory towards women. If I did have the misfortune to come across a man who had this, I would think only negative thoughts and he would get short shrift from me.

I don't know any woman who would find this acceptable. Why? Because the fact he went out of his way, spent good money and time to get that derogatory image on his leg speaks to who he really is. It doesn't matter if he was younger or whatever. The fact he got something like that in the first place speaks volumes.

Your son in law is a mysognistic sexist arsehole. He's got a tattoo on his leg that acts basically as a big sign for anyone who cares to look telling them that.

And yes how exactly do they explain that to a child.

It's a creepy tattoo. Why would anyone want that imagine on them?! HmmConfused

I love good tattoos. But would think very poorly of anyone with that sort of tat.

This. One has to be pretty invested in misogyny to even get a tattoo to prove his misogyny.
People get tattoos of things they like a lot, and think they will continue to like a lot in the futures.

For some people, that's dragons.

For this guy, apparently, it is misogyny.

I wouldn't be in a relationship with such a man.

Just a hunch, but it could be related.

Eeew do people still have tattoos like that. Haven't seen one since I was a very young child I thought they were awful then and still do

Almost everyone I know has tattoos but none are sexist. There's lots of gore tho. I would think less of someone who had sexist or exploitative tattoos and probably would tell them so too. In the end its their body and it's good warning like a dickhead beacon.

I've never seen a tattoo like that.

I the only fairly similar thing I've seen is a scantily clad woman dressed in stockings and suspenders, on my mate's grandad's shoulder.

Oh i saw a dreadful tattoo of a lady on a mans leg

I cant remember what it was (torture porn type stuff) but it horrified me and i am fairly hardy

He had small children with him and i was really hoping it was from a misspent youth...but if i was his wife i would have preferred him to wear trousers in public...or cut his leg off

Imagine having a cock and bollocks tattooed on you.

Not dissimilar.

I'm not sure how a tattoo might be related to someone struggling with depression?

Saw a man at the local swimming pool with a tattoo of a girl lifting her dress to show off her naked bottom. He had a young girl with him, presumably his daughter.Sad

Confused. Agree with worra.

Also agree with with other Pp. Have you actually discussed it with you daughter?

I actually don't see an issue, I guess it just wouldn't bother me. I actually would like a pin up girl tattoo not naked but it would be a tight dress etc. My partner wouldn't go for anything like that and he has death and an executioner on him.

I'd be depressed living with an out and proud misogynist.

I know of someone who has the most disgusting tattoos I actually thought when I saw pics of them it was a joke. But no. He has small kids and thinks it's funny to go in the swimming pool and etc with them and watch people be shocked it's a pure attention seeking exercise. The twat. And I say that as someone who loves a tattoo.
