AIBU?

To have become obsessed with trying to understand the real housewives programmes?

I think I must be a bit unreasonable at least. I don't know where this passionate need to understand the programmes comes from.

Are they friends? If they aren't, whats the point? What are they shouting about? Why do they tell people they don't like all their personal secrets?

Can anyone explain? What is these people's relationship with each other and then what?

There is no point, it is just cheap telly!

Dh can't stand that I watch them, I use it to numb my mind, there is nothing to understand.

They just like arguing I think.

But did a production company recruit a group of strangers to have lunches and parties together and then they became enmeshed despite not liking each other?

Oh god I LOVE the RH's. They're all bonkers. Bonkers. They've got heaps of money and they're all so miserable. [hugs self]

They are just a group of women who are in the same social circle. Some get on, some don't. Friendships change etc but mostly they are just wealthy women thinking they are better than they actually are.

Oh yes this is my secret viewing pleasure. They are as pp said, bonkers. I like the Beverley Hills one.

Awful programmes, awful people. 99.9% of the people in the towns and counties these crap programmes are set in, are nothing like the people on these dreadful shows...

I have friends in Essex, and Newcastle, and also in Cheshire. They are both royally pissed off at how the people are portrayed in TOWIE and Geordie Shore and the Real Housewives of Cheshire

90% of reality tv is utter shite to be honest.

*sorry, they are ALL royally pissed off, not 'both.'

They're paid to do thins together, and as the arguing makes for good viewing I suspect it's scripted. They're all such drama queens too.
And I'm addicted, to the orange county one particularly.

They are staged programmes and real is a misnomer. Have some self-respect and watch something else or nothing.

I don't watch it. I got sucked into reading a humorous review on a journey.

But thanks for the friendly and kind advice.

How does this work with people you barely know though? Surely you'd have to have some information about someone to stir successfully?

They gossip and tell tales on each other to cause an argument.

I love them, and I have phases of which ones I like the most. I used to be obsessed with the Atlanta housewives, they seemed particularly bonkers but then some overly bonkers and bitchy characters joined and it all went a bit down hill. I was particularly mesmerised by Phaedra.

I absolutely love the RH programmes. I don't watch any "reality" tv other than these.
I think some of them know each other but none are actually friends. And some are just cast and don't know anyone. The producers do the rest in terms of setting up storyline and scenes. I know it's trash. But I am rather addicted

They are told that if they are too reasonable dull they'll be sacked, hence the bonkers behaviour. The nice ones never last long.

Watch the Australian one if you want true trashiness!

The new Cheshire housewife is fabulously bonkers.

I only properly watched Orange County. Shame on me for watching it..

There was an initial group that had known each other prior to the show. Then they just introduced randoms to cause a bit of uproar.
