It wouldn't hurt to get a few extra food supplies in (of the non perishable sort). Would it?
Or is it being ott.

I bet the shops love people like me Hmm

Oh Jesus, i'm hoping for a direct hit on my house

I don't want to survive a nuke attack I, ve read The Road

I find it impossible to believe that we can live in a world with nuclear weapons, that at some point won't be deployed.

If WW3 happens then I would prefer not to survive. And I'm not sure what any prepping could do to help me tbh.

A first step is to be able to survive 3 days without leaving the house, food, water, sanitation - assuming water, gas, electric is cut off.

We are prepping - mainly for insulation against price rises due to the pound being devalued.

We have! DH is a definite prepper

We have food, water and medical supplies stocked. That will last us a couple months at least

We have fuel, and when that runs our we have alternative ways to heat water, light the house cook etc.

I have learned how to bottle and preserve vegetables we grow in our garden. We hunt and fish too.

We have also learned how to defend ourselves as being prepared makes you a target.

Oh and stock up on the smaller bottles of cheap whiskey and vodka. Even if you don't smoke a few packs of cigarettes. They will be good currency to trade with

What you all going to do about air quality??

Yes I remember that from the time I did a stretch in Sing Sing.

Pickling and preserving is a good idea.

People mock, but the Preppers will have the last laugh, if there were to be trouble.
It doesn't even have to be nuclear. The world could turn to shit, trade is badly affected and we could run short of things.

Air quality depends on where you live, there are maps online which shows you the level of risk, all you need to know is which way the wind normally blows in the U.K. That's towards the East

nuclearsecrecy.com/nukemap/

Not every town is a target. Military bases would be first.

They'll have the last laugh until their last tin of nectarines has been scoffed. Then they'll just be sitting there awaiting their doom. With sticky nectarine juice on their chins.

The Preppers are only putting themselves in more danger.

When everyone gets hysterical, they will raid the Preppers for all the goodies they've got stashed away.

This is what happens when you build a bomb shelter for instance

Eating tinned fruit in a bunker and waiting for a post apocalypse world?

Or going out with a bang and a bottle of gin when it all goes tits up?

No brainer for me I'm afraid.

MitzyLeFrouf

Correct you can't just rely on tins of food.

How long are you planning on being able to lock yourself in your house? Hmm

Granted I know very little about how to survive a nuclear attack as I'm not planning on wanting or being able to, but surely your house would have to be completely air tight and you would have to be in it for years on end before you could even step foot out the door?

Then what about water? All water is going to be contaminated for years and years. What are you going to do about that? How are you going to clean the water?

Then soil, again it will be contaminated for years!

Sorry but I think a quick death is better than slowly starving or being slowly and painfully poisoned!

The only thing you need to prep is some decent weapons. Then you can get whatever you want when the balloon goes up.

we'll be ok - we've got a new batch of Sauvignon Blanc fermenting in the basement

I see the sense of being prepared for something like being housebound for a fortnight for example. But trying to prep for nuclear war is a bit pointless.

HateSummer · 07/04/2017 16:23

How weasel-ish. I'll be out fighting and helping people. I'll eat whatever scraps I find. I couldn't sit in the house and ignore the world.

You are right you become a massive target. You need to be willing an prepared to defend it.

Who the fuck wants to survive ww3?!

We have decided it's not worth bothering. We are in North London and would be attacked for our supplies.

And also, there are many young families with children living around here, if any of them came knocking because their children were hungry we would hardly turn them away.

It just wouldn't be worth it.

What medical supplies do you have?
