AIBU to be terrified of WW3 killing us all in the UK soon?

AIBU to be frightened that WW3 is about to happen and my children will be obliterated by a nuclear weapon here in the UK?

Or is that unlikely? I'm hoping someone with a bit more understanding of the situation can explain. All I know is the situation has escalated now Trump has bombed Assad's regime and Russia is mighty pissed off. If the West comes under attack I'm guessing the UK will be nuked?

If its any help, I try and remind myself that we are actually just a small island off the coast of France, rather than the mighty world power we used to be.
Everyone has far more exciting and easier to hit targets to aim at than us.

I'd say the countries surrounding North Korea have more to worry about.

We are nothing in the grand scheme of things, especially as we are leaving the EU.

Future wars will be other people's battles, will will have little to offer anyone.

Well if it's nuclear it should happen quite quickly. There's no point freaking out over something you'll probably be unaware of. Just enjoy life as you never know when it's your last day on earth.

But even if it is, what are you gonna do? (I mean this nicely) Keep the kids off school? Build a bunker? Move to Zanzibar?

So you just have to live your life and not let this fear take over.

Well if we are obliterated we won't know about it as we will be dead so no point consuming yourself worrying about it.

Listening to radio 2 by any chance? I just listened to a discussion on it and I thought it was pretty nicely explained. I was initially pretty anxious about it but after one of the speakers explained it all I did feel less stressy about it.

I don't think the US dragged us into a war the first time because we were part of the EU. They dragged us in because we are mates. And as we are now out of the EU we need all the mates we can get.

One of the advantages of cutting loose from continental commitments and ending most of our moral posturing is that we are much, much less likely to be a target in any approaching global conflict.

Indeed, it's more likely we'll end up selling arms to both sides than that we get targeted.

Apparently I'm 148 feet above sea level in London so a tsunami isn't going to get me.

Also, maybe the only cold comfort with Brexit is that it makes Britain irrelevant now.

Yes hatesummer I do realise that, I live on the seafront! Nevertheless, we are not likely to experience a mega tsnami nor a volcano here. WW3 on the other hand feels rather likely right now.

I'm not worried for me. I'm worried my children won't grow up. Makes me sad thinking this is a real possibility. Thanks for those that had a few words of comfort.

I do think about the Syrian children every day Batgirlspants and have been very upset by their plight over the last few years. I have written to parliament, met my MP and donated to charities helping them. I won't apologise for worrying about my own children but maybe because I DO care for Syrian children it brings it home how they could so easily be OUR children.
