I made a donation to Crisis in lieu of sending Christmas cards last year.

Today I received a call from them and my heart sank when the girl introduced herself.

She said they had noted I had not Gift Aided and asked if they could do so, I explained I was a student and not paying tax. She said they could backdate it three years and once we established I had paid some tax in 2014-15 she asked if they could claim gift aid, which of course I consented to.

She checked my contact details, asked if I was still ok with them getting in touch, thanked me for my support, and bid me a good day.

No hard sell, no request for monthly contributions, no request for a one off donation, just maximising what I had already given.

So I'm going to cancel my monthly beauty box and make a regular contribution to Crisis instead, because they didn't phone-chug me and the girl was really polite
