AIBU?

To pay £32 for a bra for my 13 year old!

I don't actually have much choice as my large chested 13 year old is now a 28F! It's hereditary we all are large chested in our family. But she is still growing at Xmas she was a dd and bras on the high street don't go that size so off to bravissimo and 2 bras purchased. This week I noticed she is bursting out of them back to bravissimo and now a 28F! 2 bras purchased at £32 each! And they aren't attractive when you are 13 and want pretty bras your flat chested friends buy in primark! I wish I could pay primark prices.

And now getting upset about bikinis for summer as she realises all the ones she likes that her friends wear are not going to fit. She is going to have to get a (her words) horrible old lady one like you have to wear!

So why would you be unreasonable to buy your child a bra? I'm confused Confused

I'm sure primark do a bigger bust range up to a G now?

I'm at 32GG/H and feel for her. Debenhams do so pretty bras in these sizes that don't break the bank.

I would absolutely buy her the expensive ones. It's hard enough at that age being big boobed, without not being able to get pretty bras or bikinis like your friends.
I would see it as boosting her confidence. Money well spent.

Hmm. Walk slowly, magician.

Primark defiantly do F cups (I wear them myself). Have you looked online? I'm sure that there are cheaper ones available.

And also the larger Asda stores however I think they go from 32/34 G if I remember correctly

Try Boux Avenue instead. Cheaper and prettier.

Please be cautious, people ...

Highway Primark do larger cup sizes but the band sizes start at 32 so if you're a 28-30 it's impossible to find anything.

OP have you looked at the bikinis in Bravissimo or Brastop? I remember seeing some really cute ones recently (and I'm 24 so don't wear 'horrible old lady ones' I don't think 😂)

Also panache (excuse the spelling) do pretty swimwear and I've had some lovely sets off Amazon that were cheap

I'm guessing it's the 28 back with f cup that causes the problem with cheap shops. DD and I in the same boat.

Lovely that folk are posting with suggestions.

My suggestion is that peeps refrain from posting about their teen daughters busts.

Cheap shops don't do small back sizes.
I feel your dd's pain op.
It sucks.

We just paid £59

Dh strode out of the shop saying 'm&s next time'

They do vary in price even in the proper bra shops

But I suppose its like shoes when they are growing

OP had a 12 year old last June so looks fairly legit to me.

OP, bear in mind some people will find this post troll-like. Hard hat!

Would agree with the poster that recommended Bravissimo

Donkey, I take it you were a lucky teen who didn't have to deal with this issue. It's not nice or easy (or cheap).

She is only a 28 back and that is big but a 26 is impossible to find. I don't object to buying her bras but £32 each!

And she just wants something pretty like her friends have!

Decent bra can make you look smaller up top as well

It's the small back size that makes these difficult to find outside bravissimo, rather than the F cup (speaking from experience). Check their sales online if the price is an issue (and there's usually more variety there too, though I've no idea what's fashionable for a 13 year old).

She needs it so why is it a AIBU? i thought you were going to say you bought these expensive ones when a cheap one from M&S will fit! Just checked my email and my last set was £10.50 for two Blush

Find a brand/style/size that fits then search for it on eBay - you can find bras from brands like Freya in those sizes on there new for around £10. Swimwear same - I just bought a new Freya bikini in 30E for under £20 on eBay (and it's not old lady-like it's got watermelon slices on and is luffly Smile)

Have a look on Figleaves, OP - quite a good selection in 28F, and there's a sale on at the moment!
