Hi everyone.
I'm nearly 15 weeks pregnant with my first. It's my 24th birthday today.

I'm going out with my DP for dinner this evening, would IBU to have a glass of wine with my meal?

Thank you.

Yabu.
People will say its fine but unless theres zero chance of no risks then why risk it for a glass of wine? Its 9 months.

Yanbu - it's absolutely fine to have the occasional drink when you're pregnant!

Can of worms OP. Personal opinion, crack on! I drank a glass or two of wine a week from the second trimester onwards, there is zero evidence (despite what people may try to tell you) that drinking at that level causes harm to your baby. Plenty of people will tell you otherwise but it has to be your own informed decision, no one elses. Happy birthday!

My understanding is that the occasional drink during pregnancy is not damaging. It is entirely your decision.

Happy birthday!

It's up to you, it's just a personally choice.

I personally didn't in either of my pregnancies but I can't see 1 glass of wine doing you much harm

Imo yes.

Official guidelines in the UK say its ok BUT many countries have a zero limit. Research actually shows how your fetus reacts to alcohol. It's one birthday

People do much riskier things when pregnant than having a single glass of wine. Driving a car for instance. FFS it's one glass, not a bottle.

Op a glass of wine with your birthday meal will be fine. You might find you don't fancy it though. Happy birthday!

I wouldn't, and I didn't.

i wouldn't, i couldn't stand the guilt if anything was wrong. i wouldn't judge anyone that did though, i'm sure one drink here or there is very very low risk. .

At my booking in visit the gp said one small glass a week was fine.
I had terrible morning sickness though so never had any as I was constantly queasy.

I didn't & wouldnt, but it's your choice.

I drink when I was pregnant. Baby was fine. My mum drank and smoked and we were all fine.
A lot of people will say no, but I don't think it would hurt.
I drank a small glass topped up with lemonade, or weak spirits and mixers.

I wouldn't.

I drank a small glass of wine approximately weekly during pregnancy. I don't think for a moment that this is particularly risky. It is totally up to you.

My mum drank and smoked and we were all fine.

What exactly does that prove? Are you advocating to drink and smoke?

Many studies have shown it very negatively affects the babies health.

YANBU. A glass of wine every so often is not going to do any harm
The only reason some advice was changed to zero was because they thought some pregnant women could not understand the difference between an occasional glass and going on a binge.

Happy birthday, enjoy your glass of wine! I had the odd drink here and there when I was pregnant with both of mine, they turned out fine. If developing babies were that desperately fragile the human race would never have made it out of the 60s!

YWNBU. I had two glasses a week throughout pregnancy as that was within recommended limits.

Llanali · 05/04/2017 13:14

I did, and would. A glass here and there is fine. There is no evidence to indicate a rare glass has any negative effect vs tee total.
