Hi all
Just wondering if this sounds about right (I know there's a calculator online but it's kind of complicated)
Ex has DS age 3 for about two overnights every month.
He sometimes has him for the day if he has a day off (4 days a month approx and only on days when I work) he earns approx £40,000 pa. He lives in another town & will be having a baby with new partner in next few months - he has hinted he will have DS less then.
He gives me £300 pcm & I live in the south where rent is very expensive.
He never has DS at weekends.
I have been trying to negotiate for about two years. He won't budge. Mediation etc never gonna happen.
He is SO missing out but doesn't seem to care.
AIBU to think he should pay a bit more? As I never get any time to myself, should I ask for more so I can pay for additional childcare & have a bit of a life? So exhausted..... And this is impacting on my parenting energy.... Confused

I would. What does the calculator say is the right amount?

What does the cms calculator say?

Bear in mind if you do it through them it'll reduce when his new baby is born.

You should have been getting more based on the govt calculator and an income of £40k. However the addition of the new child reduces the amount he should pay to about £350 per month by my calculations.

CMS can calculate based on current circumstances. It would need to be adjusted based on any change in circumstances, i.e. When his baby arrives, and if his overnight visitations increase or reduce.

He should be paying approximately £90 a week at present and then around £80 per week once his second child is born. Go to the CMS and formalise the payments

The maintenance calculator says if earning £40000 he should be paying £92 per week at the moment and £82 per week when his new baby arrives (based on LO's visits averaging out at no more than once per week).

But your payments will be reliable and his income will be rechecked every year. Otherwise you will never know if he gets a pay rise.
