I have an almost one year old who has never slept well. She slept through the night for about two weeks, then cut teeth and then had a virus so has been waking about 500 times a night for the last forever.

I've basically lost all normal functioning through the day because I'm so tired.

Right now she is asleep in her own bed and has been since 8pm. An unheard of phenomenon.

My eyelids are heavy. So tell me MN, why will I not just go to fucking bed and instead insist upon finishing this bastard film? Its not even good.

Because sometimes you are just too tired to go to bed. It seems like a lot of effort when you're comfortable on the sofa.

Depends what the film is.

I usually google to find the storyline. That way you can go to bed.

Do you not keep your emergency pillow and blankly down the side of the sofa?
You know when they say you should 'sleep when the baby does'. Well that's exactly what they mean. Fish out your emergency pillow and blanket and hunker down for a kip.
Not - put some washing in, pair up some socks, dust the cabinet, disinfect the cat.
Just snuggle up on the sofa, and see what happens.

Count to 3 and just flop into bed. Your eyelids will thank you for it in the morning.

Is it Rambo?

It was Coyote Ugly. And it finished shortly after I posted. I forced myself and got 1 hr and 45 blissful minutes. Now I'm back on the sofa again with her beside me drinking a bottle. (Her, not me)

But I'm clinging to the fact that she just did 4 hours in her own bed, which is an improvement on the last few weeks. Hopeful that once I settle her now she might do the same again.

liquid That is pure genius

Chilli We do have a duvet that almost permanently lives on our sofa. I will take your advice and start doing that for daytime naps, though this would require my 2 year old to be asleep too x

I did the same thing the other night. The film was on Netflix and about to expire. It was grown-ups. I have a bean bag that is big enough to sleep on so I always keep a blanket and pillow within reach

How do you know when Netflix films are going to expire?

Counted, I typed in films about to expire Netflix UK and it brought me to a site called new on Netflix which will bring up programs that are going to expire as well as new programs.

My 5 month old has just slept from 7:30-12:30. I should definitely have been asleep too!

If find that I'm less likely to sit on the sofa actively exhausted but not going to bed if I have my teeth brushed, face washed and pjs on before sitting down. It makes it much easier to persuade myself to go to bed.
