Well, yes, in theory but my DS wanted a specific theme so I cut out all the different shapes and he stuck them on.

Hah no chance. I work at DS2's school and not a single one will have been touched by DC hands next week at the parade. Including his. He would have himself trussed up in all sorts of non-easter shite given chance. I will keep it religious, streamlined and classy!

I'm joking, though; he has made his already and it's a vase made from clear plastic filled with handmade daffodils fashioned from egg boxes and sadness. It pains me to see him prance about with it strapped to his massive head.

I just find it all a bit pathetic. DD loved making hers with a bit of help but it looked shoddy compared to most of them that must have taken hours to make!

Back in our day my dcs school ended up banning the bonnets made at home as clearly parents made them. Fuck me they were good though

All bonnets were made at school by the kids and to be honest they were all uniformly crap.

I let ds1 make his own Christmas hat in yrR.
I think he was one of a small handful in his year that did.
He came up with the idea for the Easter hat, but lacked "perseverance" (shall we say?) to finish.
This year his interest got as far as looking at some pictures on Google.
The alternative is sending him with nothing which would be sad.
It's a pretty good hat, though I say so myself!

I split the bonnet-making with my 4 year old. He did all the colouring involved (paper flowers, bees, snails, butterflies), and I did all the assembling.

He also wanted a fox, so I decided to take inspriation from the famous Mumsnet Easter bonnet and put a slightly sinister twist on it.

I give you this offering which a friend of a friend INSISTS their 4 yo made completely unassisted.......
Its a shame though because friend is pretty anxious and now thinks that her own dc is behind massively in what he can produce. I told her 100% that the original 4yo had not been anywhere near that craft project.

This year our school said we could send the bonnets and some decorations in for the DC to make at school or help them 'start it off' at home. Cue pretty much all mothers apart from me sending in 99% complete bonnets. DD made here all herself at school. It was crap, she didn't win and she was cross with me
