I attended an interview yesterday and this morning was offered the job.
The new job is closer to home (currently can be travelling up to three hours per day with DS drop off, this one will be a 30 min trip dropping him and getting to work, it is ten mins away from home driving, 30 mins walking).
It gives me supervisory experience.
It is 30 hours per week (so perfect in a few years when DS goes to school, I can work 9-3 and less than ten mins away from the school I would like him to go to).
The job is extremely interesting.
BUT
Would mean being at work for five days (currently in the process of dropping to three days as feel I don't spend enough time with DS).
Would also mean paying the childminder for an extra day (family have him the other times).
The new job have agreed the hours I put forward (mornings Mon/Tues and until 4 Weds to Fri). In theory even though I at work more days I would still be up on hours due to less travelling. I get to keep the difference in what I am working now and dropping to three days (which would have been a struggle financially).
I will have DS with me two afternoons a week and every tea time. At the moment on a Weds to Friday I get him out of bed, drop him to childcare in pjs then pick him up in his pjs, milk in the car and straight to bed again.
Am I being selfish by accepting the job. I am really excited about it but not sure how it will affect DS...but then it's only one extra morning at work and more time with him during the week.
I just need someone to tell me it will all be ok. I need a change, been where I am now for 15 years and ready for a new start!
