To not move my car?! AGAIN

I posted a thread a few weeks ago about my neighbour, let's call him neighbour A, coming round and banging on my door at 11.30pm asking me to move my car because I had parked round the back of the houses we live in, between mine and his house. Anyway, it's been about another 3-4 weeks.

Last night I parked directly outside the back of my house. This afternoon about 2pm neighbour B (other side) came banging on my door and said her husband had to get up early to move their car to let someone else get out. She said there wasn't enough room for both our cars. I said I was parked directly outside my house and that it was part and parcel of living in terraced houses. She made noises about how they had always parked there, etc. There was enough room length ways but they have a big 4x4 and so I don't think they could parallel park it lined up well enough, so it was sticking out and apparently blocking the cars behind him from getting out.

I explained that most of the time I park down the side of the houses but last night it had been full and the back alley was empty and I had parked outside my home. I said that I will always try and park down the side as it doesn't bother me but that if it was full and there was space at the back I would park there.

Anyway. Neighbour A has just come round telling me to move my car back as he is slightly blocking his next door neighbours garage! Confused

I said politely that no, I wasn't going to be moving my car and that if he was parked causing an obstruction, he should move his car.

He then raised his voice, said was I taking the mick, he lived next door etc. He said he would get my car towed. Now I must admit I snorted a little bit at that and said he would have a job getting anyones car towed from public land when it isn't parked illegally. He stormed off and said "fine, watch this".

WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE Angry

This is the second time that neighbour A has banged on my door at stupid o'clock st night. I said I won't be moving my car and please do not come knocking on my door again and he said "or what". This is a middle aged man we're talking about! I feel like I'm in bloody secondary school again.

AIBU to tell both sets of neighbours to bloody well piss off if either of them mention parking to me again!!

Stay inside. Don't answer the door. Rinse and repeat if necessary.

ThreeLeggedHaggis · 29/03/2017 23:25

Yes, ignore them.

Or if you want to answer, keep a pen and pad near your door and when he knocks, write on it and read aloud "Eleven thirty PM. Man from Number X. Aggressive, raised voice" or whatever: make it clear you're keeping a nuisance diary.

And then use the diary, if you need to. We had a nuisance neighbour problem and phoned the non-emergency police line. They sent a PCSO round to the neighbour and the problem disappeared immediately.

Great Snapchat diagram Wink

I mean don't literally tell them all to piss off, that probably won't go down well. But certainly in spirit! Don't answer the door, if they catch you outside politely decline to chat etc. Continue as you are.

Do a big steaming shit in each car's bonnet and leave a note signed from the other neighbour.
That'll learn 'em.

OP, ignore what I said and do this. Grin

I remember your last thread! The alley is completely unrestricted public parking right? Not just for residents and not allocated or on deeds?

HappyGoLuckyGirl · 29/03/2017 23:46

Queen Grin

Yes, Billy public land, on no one's deeds that I know of but I'm going to double check with my landlord.

The thing is, he has another car parked permanently on the side alley. And he has also put flags down outside the back of his house, to 'claim the land as his. Hmm

Top marks for your diagram!!!! Star (and without even being asked as well!!!) Star Star

From your diagram, you've done nothing wrong.

Agree with PPs... don't answer the door!

PyongyangKipperbang · 29/03/2017 23:53

IT might be worth reporting to the council about him attempting to co-opt the land because if he can prove that he has used it as if he owns it for a certain number of years then he may be able to claim ownership.

And it'll piss him off!

Had a similar thing back in the autumn with neighbour repeatedly knocking on my door at all hours asking me to move my car (in case he needed to jump start his!) He wanted a car's length distance between mine and his. It's a busy road and it's not possible or reasonable. After far too many calls I told him I was parked perfectly legally and safely and wouldn't move it again and not to call round any more. He did call round and when I refused to move it pushed my door open when I tried to close it and end the conversation.

I told him I'd call the police and I did. They were amazingly helpful and asked me into the station to make a statement. They then sent an officer round to give him a harrassment notice. Not heard a peep out of him since and he park at the bottom of the street now, nearer the junction so that no one can park in front of him. Think he was advised to do that. If your neighbour is making threats to have your car towed away and knocking on your door at all times, that seems to count as harrassment, so I would definitely consider phoning none emergency police about it.

MrsChopper · 30/03/2017 00:08

Oh don't even bother engaging in conversation with those nutjobs! Definitely keep a nuisance diary!

And then go shit in their bonnets sorry not helpful Grin

Please out-flag him. Bigger, brighter flags with your face on and one of those blow up dancers!!
