AIBU?

To use my lumea ipl more frequently than suggested...

So I know this isn't exactly a controversial aibu but I have the urge to use my Philips lumea ipl weekly in a desperate bid to tackle my facial hair from PCOS. It gets me down so much I just want it gone. I've had years of professional ipl but now trying the lumea at home to save some money. So, can I use it weekly given that I have so much facial hair or will this cause problems / stop it working so well? It says to use it 2 weekly. Thanks in advance!

Hi,

I have a lumea. I've been told that using it more frequently than recommended will actually stimulate hair growth so I don't think its a good idea. It is a long wait for results compared to other methods but I am seeing results so I 'd say stick with it. Really important to only be shaving or using hair removal cream in between treatments don't be tempted to pluck, wax or epilate.

How many treatments have you done?

Thank you! Just what I needed to hear, I will stick to every 2 weeks. I've only done a few treatments but I've had years of professional ipl. Do you know how big an area each flash treats? I know that I was told with the professional one about 2cm square but I don't know with the lumea and can't find any info. I don't know how close together to do the flashes (I basically have thick dark hair all over!) glad to hear you've had results. Thanks again.

The area it treats in each flash depends on the size of the head attachment. The face one on mine is about 1cm × 1.5cm. Leg attachment is much bigger.
I can do my face in a couple of minutes and slightly overlap each flash.
