Trans people want to steal your rights! And stroke your cat. They want to colonise your child's reading books, infiltrate your favourite prisons, appropriate the gold medals you would otherwise win for your peerless skills on the pummel horse, take the best seats on the Tube, demand that midwives talk exclusively about pregnant fathers, haunt your preferred changing rooms, run rampant through the Brownie Guides, go unchallenged in every echelon of the WI, burn all your favourite pronouns in an industrial furnace, benefit from all your oppression, demand your pet dog be addressed as Mx, frolic carelessly across the flower bed you've only just planted for God's sake, insist that there are more than two genders, require to be recognised as the gender 'combine harvester' one day and the gender 'quail' the next, piss on the toilet you wanted to reserve for your friends, and call you Cis which is like totally cruel because it sounds like sissy.

Alternatively, trans people are people, they are not trying to hurt you, most of you have never met one, none of you need to feel threatened by them, and there really isn't a need to start fifteen threads a week fretting that they're going to steal your last Bourbon Cream, appropriate or destroy feminism, or change your baby's name from Thomas to Pixie. Seriously, calm down.

Biscuit

I have total respect for transpeople and am alarmed by some of the "bloke in a dress" type comments on here, but the way you are so utterly sarcastic and dismissive of the concerns people have is reprehensible.

You think that's going to help, or is it just to make you feel better? What is the point of such an inflammatory and unpleasant post.

So would you have no objection to someone like transwoman Danielle Muscato having the legal right to access all women's services, facilities and spaces - which is the way the law will go if we continue along the current direction of travel wrt transgenderism?

Might go some way to balancing out the many inflammatory and unpleasant anti trans posts?

I do know trans people and most of them are horrified by the likes of Danielle moscato. They just want to live life quietly and without abuse. I support them in everything.

But then you get some entitled raised as male arseholes who think that identifying as a woman is wearing a dress - sometimes not even all the time just when they feel like it - and as a result they have the right to invade and ride rough shod over most of the hard won rights women have had for less than 100 years. That small minority can fuck right off and I don't care who I offend any more.

Never seen so much unfounded hysterical neurosis?

Oh ffs you lead a bloody sheltered life then. Bother to dirty your hands a little and READ one of the threads, engage with this hysterical neurosis, actually debate it and win the argument instead of looking down on it without bothering to actually read, discuss or inform yourself of the issues, and then I'll pay attention to you hoiking your pants about it. I see very little hysterical neurosis, I DO see discussion of genuine issues.

And I see bloody stupid comments stuffed on them by the haloed superior who haven't bothered to read a word, but love adding gems like 'roll call of the bigots' (shut up, stop talking about it) or my all time favourite 'my heart is breaking/bleeding at all the unkindness' (it is NOT unkind to discuss, debate and question. It isn't bloody transphobic either.)

Have a look at Terfisaslur.com for a start. Discuss it. Like a grown up.

Using name calling, shaming and shutting down any other opinion than your own righteously liberally comfy one instead of bothering to actually engage with it, logically debate it and work on winning people around to your (clearly superior) POV by debate, reasons, logic etc has led so far to Brexit and to Trump. No one seems to have learned anything yet.

Wow.
I have actually met and class as friends three transgender people.
I completely respect the right of transgender people to live a life they feel comfortable and peaceful in.
I find your opening post offensive. How fucking dare you question my claim to womanhood. My right to recognise the thousand struggles women have faced and thought throughout HISTORY.
I also separately find the word cis incredibly offensive.
I greatly object to men found guilty of rape claiming transexuality and being detained withing women's prisons.
I hope that's all clear.

Riiight, haven't seen any "anti trans" threads on here that are like this. oh well, I'm sure this thread will really help to balance things out and calm people down...

I think what it boils down to is that some men are arseholes, some women are arseholes, some trans people are arseholes. In fact some PEOPLE full stop are arseholes.

MOST people just want to live their lives without the judgement and fuckwittery of others.

OMG are you my ex therapist?!? You sound just like the oh so sex positive marriage councillor we saw, when cissy cross dressing DH was trying to get me to shag other people and cried when I wouldn't! He was so #sad that if I wouldn't be happy with his new fetish, he was going to kill himself!!!

You are SOOOOO right OP, why would people like me (do I count as a person?) actually want to talk about our lives, in one of the few forums where we are allowed to! Gads, I should just get over it, it's just clothes after all, and isn't it all so marvellous, we can go GG shopping together! (Apart from the bit where he goes off to wank in the changing room, he's on his own there.)

Because trans just means one thing, innit, your experience is THE only possibility out there.

Have a biscuit OP Biscuit and if anyone can point me to a font which expresses sarcasm, I would be grateful.

(NB, my DH and his gross are all true, read my old threads if you can be bothered to.)

I work in the real world, with real people with real issues. Unlike people like your good self who just seem to read a load of internet regurgitation, clutch your pearls and think it's all true. You keep reading the Daily Mail et al.

Many moons ago there used to be a transgender poster here, Kim, she very well may still be lurking. She had a real struggle keeping employment, and a roof over her childs head due to prejudices. Those prejudices are manifesting all over again.

I'm really picking my words carefully, but I sincerely doubt any of the persons posting here ever get their backsides off the sofa, let alone have Olympic standard daughter with men waiting to steal their medals or use the same toilet. God alone knows how you cope in your own house or on the continent where multi-gender toilets are normal.

Yup. Prejudiced, bigoted, inward thinking are a few of the politer adjectives I'd use when thinking of the participants of this forum.

rumblingDMexploitingbstds and love, when I want an opinion, I'll get it from some one who is educated in the subject matter. Ok ? Good. Glad we understand each other.

My sister's neighbour is trans-sexual but awaiting the op. She's lovely, but is over six foot and weighs about seventeen stone, so not very feminine. She is lovely and does no harm to anyone else, why is it a problem to others?

Do you do actual discussion or just patronising? Grin

Not a daily mail reader thanks. Please find a post of mine on this subject in a thread and point out the pearl clutching and I'll be glad to discuss it. Actually bother to engage with any of the subject matter in depth and I'll be glad to discuss it. The transwomen participating on the threads (at least one of which I can think of in particular) are extremely articulate in debating and pointing out the issues with transactivism, I'm sure they'll be glad to debate actual facts, concerns, suggested legislation etc with you.

But your posts so far are about ridiculing, shaming, shutting down, silencing and never actually engaging with any real part of the issue. Winning many hearts and minds that way? If you really care about this issue this approach won't help. On the other hand, if you just wanted a barney and this seemed like as good as subject as any, have fun.

Can I ask a question? In the old days, if we disagreed with someone on a political issue we tended to have a discussion/debate. Nowadays, there seems to be a very high probability that instead we will accuse the other person of "reading the Daily Mail". I see it on Brexit threads all the time.

Why is that?

I am fine, I can't help coming back onto mumsnet for a check in, and to shake my head at all the lovely ladies with their (lack of) experience bias.

I got quite unwell for a while but I am better now. I haven't divorced him, (not sure what I am doing there) it is a work in progress.
