This is probably a thread for fellow crafters, everyone else will just think I'm a nutter Grin

The previous occupants of our house converted the loft into a kind of art studio (he was a very good amateur artist). I commandeered it as my craft/sewing room when we moved here several years ago.

DH has recently taken up art/painting classes. He was always quite arty but he's taken some classes and is now doing more and more.

The cheeky fecker has not only decided he's going to move into my craft room and share it (to be fair, there's plenty of room and he is more than welcome), he actually wants me to chuck out some of my stash so he can have more room!

My stash is quite embarrassing if I'm honest, it's not just fabric but knitting wool, ribbons, more rick-rack tape than I'll ever use in my life time, 2 sewing machines and an over locker, etc, etc.

I have an old dresser stuffed full of fabric plus drawers, a shelving unit, a pile of fabric pushed to the corner of my desk, god knows how many abandoned half finished projects - you get the picture Blush

I started having a sort out over the weekend but decided I couldn't possibly part with any of it. I need it all!

He's threatened to go up there with me next weekend to 'help' - aka chucking stuff in binbags when I'm not looking.

He just doesn't get it and just keeps asking, for example, why I've still got a bag full of small strips of fabric that I cut up to make DD a rag rug 10 years ago, got bored as it was taking so long and abandoned. You never know pigs might fly I might finish it one day

I've cleared him some space, right under the biggest velux window and think he should be grateful Grin

Definitely LTB! My DD went to uni this year and my wool stash has crept under her bed. She was most unimpressed when she came home last week Grin

Tape measure. . 50/50.

pipsqueak25 · 27/03/2017 17:00

you've got the womans equivalent of a man shed in the loft haven't you ? Grin how very dare he try to chuck out your precious junk stuff !

Meekonsandwich · 27/03/2017 17:17

Ooohhhh, I'd be pissed at the very idea. I remember once my mum took it upon herself to "sort out" my studio and threw away so much stuff that id paid for and used and needed. I was so mad!!! I'd get in there first, look at pinterestfor some good storage ideas too ;)

Grin. Yes!

When we moved in the room was a bit grotty and I cleaned it all up, decorated, laid proper floor boards, etc. Basically how I'd decorate my house if I didn't have to share it with someone who has wildly differing tastes to mine.

Now he wants to move in and bring all his grubby paint stuff with him.

I'm willing to offer 50/50, but only if he has the sofa bed and maybe a chest of drawers and a book shelf in his half Grin

buy him a shed with a window in the roof ! Grin

We've actually got a crappy old, half falling down summer house, that was here when we moved here and every year we talk about getting rid of it and building some nice decking.

Maybe I can persuade him to move out there
