No YANBU send them here! 😂

Wishiwasmoiradingle2017 · 25/03/2017 19:46

How about ask them to decorate the table for you instead?
Named place setting and flowers etc?

Stopandlook · 25/03/2017 19:47

I couldn't - Mother's Day is more about the kids here than me - they are so excited...!

IrnBruTortie · 25/03/2017 19:48

I've done the same... years of DC1 being up before 6, and DH being out the door before 6 when he's working have knackered my body clock, and at weekends I am almost always up first. Last year I lay in bed elbowing DH awake for what felt like hours. This year I will get up and enjoy my coffee and R4 in peace for an hour and have a nice lunch instead.

Eminybob · 25/03/2017 19:49

I appreciate the cooking of breakfast, but would rather eat it sat up at a table not worrying about tea stains and crumbs in my bed.

Bless dh though I found a torn out recipe for hollandaise in his pocket as he knows I love eggs benedict, gawd only knows how that'll turn out seeing as he hasn't made it before.

TheSnorkMaidenReturns · 25/03/2017 19:49

Can't stand breakfast in bed. I made sure DH and boys knew, and I remind them regularly!

Familyof3or4 · 25/03/2017 19:50

Yanbu, I hate breakfast in bed!

Unlikely to one offered it though, dc are preschool age and dh warned me last week that "dc are quite likely to forget about Mother's Day!"

00100001 · 25/03/2017 19:51

What's wrong with breakfast in bed?? Shock

VladmirsPoutine · 25/03/2017 19:56

Binary Crumbs and spills! And general need for peace and quite on a Sunday morning! Need I elaborate more!?

VladmirsPoutine · 25/03/2017 19:56

*quiet! OH THE SHAME!

SparkleTwinkleGoldGlitter · 25/03/2017 19:56

If you don't like it you don't like it

Assuming a dp/dh is helping them could you say to him could they lay the table and make the table look nice instead? Just some flowers & napkin in the table

If dc are old enough to do it without help, I think you will have to take the breakfast in bed

megletthesecond · 25/03/2017 19:57

Yanbu. I worry about them spilling it on the stair carpet.

As long as one of them puts the kettle on for me I'll be happy.

SocksRock · 25/03/2017 19:59

Won't be happening here, we are running junior parkrun at 9am, so up and out! I'm not a fan of Mother's Day so this is a fab excuse as far as I'm concerned

BarbaraofSeville · 25/03/2017 20:02

I don't like breakfast in bed either, probably because I can't sit up comfortably to eat. I don't even like a cup of tea in bed either. I would have had to get out of bed for a wee anyway so I might as well get up.

forgottenusername · 25/03/2017 20:05

I like the idea, but don't like the reality of cold toast with too much marmalade and tea that's far too milky.....

EweAreHere · 25/03/2017 20:06

I would hate it, too, OP.

No food/crumbs in my bed, thank you. Plus, I don't eat when I get up. Can't stomach food too early in the morning. Luckily, my family knows this and we're too busy at the weekends to do such things anyways.

Enko · 25/03/2017 20:09

Mine haveknown since they were small that Breakfast in bed is not something mummy enjoys. I cant stand the crumbs I don't even like a cup of tea in bed.

Breakfast set up downstairs however is a completely different thing and I am happy to get that sorted.

I am working tomorrow though so leaving home at 6 10 am. No chance of 4 teenagers being up then anyway.. Grin

GrumpyOldBag · 25/03/2017 20:17

This will be my first year without breakfast in bed as my dc are both staying away with their mates tonight.
A little bit sad, harbinger of empty nest to come.

DannyOD · 25/03/2017 20:18

Yes, it's just so uncomfortable, as well as the crumbs and spillages. I don't even like a cup of tea in bed.

YANBU if you don't like it you don't like it. As long as you're not making them cry by being mean about it.

Bluntness100 · 25/03/2017 20:23

Ah it's the thought that counts. Wear it. Trust me they grow up fast enough,

Mine comes home from uni tomorrow , I can't wait, but I smile fondly at the memory of an excited little face bringing me brekkie in bed, and yeah I was no fan either, but it's lovely. They don't do it forever you know.

PennyPickle · 25/03/2017 20:25

YANBU. There is nothing quite like a cold cup of tea and untoasted, not enough buttered toast and soggy cereal! Whilst the kids sit on your bed and watch you eat it.......Ugh!

All mine are now teens and learnt a long time ago that all mothers favourite thing in the world is to be taken out to lunch. Strictly no breakfast in bed in this house :) Please God don't let them have a relapse in the morning....

YANBU!

I can't imagine anything worse! A cup of coffee is fine but nothing else. Couldn't be doing with the crumbs etc!
