To not 'get' Boden

Just that really. I've never bought anything from there admittedly but it all looks hideously over priced and 'samey'. I just don't get the MN love for it. Is it a status thing?

I think Boden is v lucky that Mumsnet loves it. Rather like the mud at Glastonbury being a thing; it would fuck me right off.

SleepFreeZone · 25/03/2017 18:38

It's just a status thing like any expensive brand.

NeonGod73 · 25/03/2017 18:39

It's a middle class thing. I think the same about Kath Kidston and that horrendous White Stuff. Overpriced garbage for people with too much disposable income. Ah, and Molton Brown....

steff13 · 25/03/2017 18:40

I'd never heard of it, so I looked it up, and a lot of their dresses are cute. They don't have many plus sizes, though, so I won't be ordering. Sad

FinallyHere · 25/03/2017 18:43

I haven't bought anything from them for ages, but retain a fondness for them because they are the source of my favourite ever trousers, in a snow leopard fabric. I have been known to have my face painted to match them.

squoosh · 25/03/2017 18:43

To be honest I notice just as many anti Boden sentiments as pro on MN.

It's not a look I aspire to, I find it all a bit mum-tastic but it's a very English, very middle class brand so I suppose that's its appeal. I'd put it in the same category as brands like Catholic Kidston and Emma Bridgewater.

T00much · 25/03/2017 18:46

I don't like the adult clothes but have bought quite a bit for the kids when they have their clearance sales. I like the colours and the clothes wash well but I would never buy anything at full price as it's so expensive, especially for something they grow out of

HeadDreamer · 25/03/2017 18:49

I wear their tops and cardigans to work. They look more expensive than the new look and H&M stuff I wear in the weekend. You don't have to like it.

AYankinSpanx · 25/03/2017 18:50

I don't like Boden for myself, but I've bought quite a lot for the kids. The quality is generally very good and I like the kids stuff basically. Nice colours etc.

Sunnysky2016 · 25/03/2017 18:52

Some nice stuff but beyond my budget

SheSaidHeSaid · 25/03/2017 18:55

Same here, not my thing and probably won't ever be. It just reminds me of the old catalogue clothes that you used to get as nothing really seems to have changed.

The clothes themselves aren't that bad but it just seems very old fashioned.

I buy it for the kids, and don't give one single shit about 'brands.' I like the kids stuff and find the quality is good, that's it.

It's not exactly Prada!

I find it all very frumpy.

Certainly more staples than fashionable

Though I like the shoes, bags etc

What MN love? I've only ever seen posts snagging it off.

You don't have to get it you know, it's just clothes, there is nothing to get. You either like it or you don't.

coffeetasteslikeshit · 25/03/2017 19:04

*slagging

Oldraver · 25/03/2017 19:06

DS today is wearing a pair of shorts on the third year...that's one of the reasons I buy it, always discounted though

KC225 · 25/03/2017 19:07

Lived in their stretchy dresses for work when pregnant. Kids are 10 now and I've not bought anything from Boden for years. Do agree though, kids stuff is cute but pricey.

FiaMarrow · 25/03/2017 19:12

Grin at Catholic kidston best autocorrect ever...

Wouldn't buy the womenswear because I hate the faff of 'buying' something just to try it on and then have the hassle of returning (weirdly I don't mind this with warehouse or John Lewis because I can return straight to shop)
I do buy lots for my DD though because the quality is great, the t-shirts never do that twisty thing or develop small holes. And the kids jackets are fab. That said the swimwear is shit cause it goes yellow straight away.

I don't understand the love for Hush. Not. At. All.

QueenofPentacles · 25/03/2017 19:14

It's very Reigate

MontyPythonsFlyingFuck · 25/03/2017 19:15

LOL at Catholic Kidston!

I used to buy a lot of Boden (partly because they used to have awesome sales in Chelsea Town Hall) and they used to use a lot of lovely natural fabrics (nice heavy linen, etc). But I'm buggered if I'm paying £89 for a not very well-made dress in not very nice material, which is where they mostly seem to have gone now.
