Hi all - I originally posted in self employed/freelance but had no responses, so posting here for traffic. I've posted before about my job being an issue.

Basically I'm working for a company in a self employed capacity. My work hours are flexible though generally 9-3 and 8-12 so that's 12 hours a day 5-6 days a week. I do this due to being a SP and because if irs the school holidays, I am able to forgo daytime hours so long as I meet my targets during the evening, which means sometimes working till the early hours but I'm okay with that. I should add that I am expected to meet with some clients during weekdays which can be many miles away and causes issues for me with childcare etc.

I don't have a set wage, it's commission based. Some days I could make an average weeks wage in a day, others I could spend two days earning nothing despite all my hard work. It's a constant battle with tax credits etc as I'm poor one week, okay the next IYSWIM.

I have a degree and I was wondering if graduate home working jobs truly exist? Jobs where you are given a set wage.I obviously am not interested in MLM crap wink

Currently earning around 28-35K depending on client uptake, sometimes less than this.

Does anyone work from home in a graduate role? Don't want to go into specifics about my qualifications, but think healthcare management/consulting and it's along those lines.

Unlikely I'd say.

Most graduate positions have an element of training built in and I imagine you'd be expected to work out of an office.

I have never heard of that kind of opportunity in my life. It would be lovely and suit me very much but unfortunately I think we are wishing on the wind.

I don't think that sort of job exists. DD3 is applying for Graduate jobs at the moment. All of them have a period of training and they expect the Graduates to work from the office or go out and meet clients

I'd say it's pretty unlikely. Most new graduate jobs seem to want your soul Sad and expect you to be very flexible and travel all over the place for training/ meetings etc. Which is why, despite an excellent degree, I cannot get a graduate job that fits around my family in any way.

No you won't find a graduate job where you solely work from home. The whole point is that you are a trainee and learning on the job from those around you which includes continuous and spontaneous feedback as well as more formal assessments and/or exams. You can't do that if you aren't there.

Unless you're looking to get into investment banking (where you will be expected to be out with clients and pulling all nighters when required) you're looking at very similar or less money than you make now. You will be expected to work long days including away from home ime for almost all graduate schemes.

Surely it makes more sense to look at non-trainee roles where you draw on your current skills and experience and you have some reputation?

How much experience do you have and what field are you currently working in? Eg sales, marketing, IT etc...

How about a role where you get a salary and then commission on top? Recruitment would offer this and there are work from home recruitment jobs out there in which you would be employed.
