Yep I agree.... it I like it.
I only just like it though.

Love Emma Thompson and Alan Rickman in it.
Love the whole Billy Mack storyline.

CheshireDing · 24/03/2017 21:48

It's just lovely and Christmasy (that's why I like it anyway), plus I like Hugh's dancing in it ! :) and Emma Thompsons acting.

Sparklingbrook · 24/03/2017 21:49

I have often wondered. I also hated Notting Hill.

tabulahrasa · 24/03/2017 21:49

Emma Thompson, I only watch it for her...

MargoChanning · 24/03/2017 21:50

I don't love it but do like it. Because it's a sentimental, easy watch and because Emma Thompson is pure class.

And Hugh Grant has magnificent hips.

I thought it was dire! I also can't stand Pretty Woman and Notting Hill. All 3 films are just too soppy for me.

ThreeLeggedHaggis · 24/03/2017 21:51

YANBU. It's a terrible film.

LordTrash · 24/03/2017 21:52

The Emma Thompson/Alan Rickman strand is the only bit I like.

It always irritates the feck out of me that they're having a school concert on Christmas Eve too.

Bluntness100 · 24/03/2017 21:54

I think it's quite fun, light watching, can't say I love it though. It's a feel good movie and i like the bit where Hugh grant is dancing round to Jump by the Pointer sisters...- not that I've done that, nope not at all-

y0rkier0se · 24/03/2017 21:54

Oh no I love it Grin Total guilty pleasure

Sandsnake · 24/03/2017 21:54

I always thought that you were meant to watch it as almost like a parody of a cheesy love film? Kind of like Scream with horror films.

SookiesSocks · 24/03/2017 21:55

I like it because its so shit.

Emma is wonderful.

supermoon100 · 24/03/2017 21:55

I think the point is that love is what is important in life. That's why it opens with footage of real people being met at airports hugging etc. Yes it's a bit corny and plot lines are dodgy but how it can offend anyone is beyond me. Stop being so cynical about life ffs

Serialprocrastinator2 · 24/03/2017 21:55

I've never seen it, and don't want to, never watched three weddings or any of the Bridget Jones film either, they don't appeal!

ImperialBlether · 24/03/2017 21:56

I hadn't thought of that, that they had the school concert on Christmas Eve!

And I'd rather remember Alan Rickman as Snape, rather than the twat in Love Actually.

McDougal · 24/03/2017 21:57

How has no one mentioned Andrew Lincoln with the cards? Best bit, hands down but agree about Emma Thompson and Alan Rickman. Watching tonight makes me sad that Alan Rickman is no longer with us.

switswoo81 · 24/03/2017 21:57

All the best Christmas films are cheesy and rely on the suspension of reality, this one certainly does. I love it . It's not Citizen Kane but it's happy and warming.

ImperialBlether · 24/03/2017 21:57

Serialprocrastinator, there's been another wedding since you stopped watching!

Loungingbutnotforlong · 24/03/2017 21:57

Love Emma Thompson and Alan Rickman storyline, billy mack- 'turns out you're the *ing love of my life' Grin high grant dancing etc-ha! All of it! just feels super Christmassy and fun.

SomewhatIdiosyncratic · 24/03/2017 21:58

I like the blend of different stories in there and how the relationships link up in the end.

ghostyslovesheets · 24/03/2017 22:00

it's very cringy but I do like it - I find laura linney's story really sad :(

I don't get the love for it at all, it's just awful. Except the bit where Emma Thompson opens the CD, obviously she's fabulous.
It's one of my sisters favourite films and she's a total film snob.
I quite like Notting Hill though.

Ironfloor · 24/03/2017 22:05

I hate it. Also hate Ntookng Hill, Foir Weddings And A Funeral, Mickey bloody Blie Eyes and anything with Hugh Grant in it. Also haven't watched any of the Bridget Jones' movies either. Can't stand Dirty Dancing and Pretty Woman either.

I hate soppy movies.
