AIBU?

to be annoyed with DS's school

They have a school flag which they lower to half mast when appropriate - when a teacher sadly died, when a well known local person (unconnected to the school) died. Today the flag was flying as normal and was not at half mast; IMO (and that of other parents) it should have been.

AIBU, or are the school?

If the school is in London - yes

If not- then no

We had a few moments of silence, no where near London.

Why does it matter whether it was in London Salmon ?

Ours was at half mast and we're an hour outside London. Yesterday was still an attack on our country and one of our police force died protecting our government. It was a tragic event that the whole country should mark, imo.

YANBU

Oh I don't know, I'd get rid of the flag, like there aren't enough things to do in a day. Without someone having to witty about who's worthy of a flag lowering.

If it's usually only done for locals and you're not near London then probably not.

Witty? Shock worry

Emphasise I can't see the point of them having a flag either but as they put it up each morning it'd be simple to just put it half mast.

Manic, an hour outside London is local imo - a large proportion of your community must work there, many met police officers commute into London from similar distance.

It's not the lowering that's difficult it's the deciding What are the criteria? And then there's the controversy when you get it wrong and people post on MN about you
