To be raging with dh for being a misogynistic twat?

So today at work I was out in the van delivering with my two female colleagues. I took a fun selfie and have just showed it to dh. His immediate response was that he couldn't believe work would send 3 women out by themselves. Gobsmacked I said why? He said cos we're vulnerable with the money we carry. We don't carry money and are perfectly capable of doing this manual job. He replied but what if you got a flat tyre and one of my colleagues wasn't there to help? I'm fuckin Gobsmacked. I can change a tyre as can my colleagues. We're not speshul snowflakes who need men to be there! Of course then we had a massive fight cos of can't believe that's how he sees me and he's defensive cos he's only thinking of me. And I'm a feminist. Grrrr! Aibu to be so cross??

YANBU. If ny husband came out with that I'd wonder how he had managed hiding his idiocy for so long.

AyeAmarok Wed 22-Mar-17 19:52:34

Did your DH not know that you can change a tyre?

Can all feminists change tyres?

FetchezLaVache Wed 22-Mar-17 19:52:37

YABU, OP. You need a PENIS to change a wheel. A pretty little head will only get you so far, you know.

I am amazed you got as far as marrying someone without having any notion that he views women as generally less capable and inferior. i would have thought sharing very core basic values was pretty fundamental. It would be like finding out my DH was a racist - I really would have spotted that at the dating stage.

Do you have children? It would worry me greatly how he would parent. If you don't have children, maybe it is time for a serious look at how the man you married views 50% of the population.

Stay strong and do not let him belittle you or shape you into what he thinks a woman should be.

MacNcheese87 Wed 22-Mar-17 19:54:47

My DH is a man and just as incompetent as me at changing tyres. I've birthed entire children in less time it's taken him to have a shit.

Your DH is being an arse. It's an awful way to think of women.

ErrolTheDragon Wed 22-Mar-17 19:57:08

If I got a flat tyre, I'd phone the RAC ... same as DH would. grin

You could show your DH this

I can't change a tyre. To be fair, DP did have to show me how to properly fit a lamp shade as I thought it was held in place by the bulb...hmm

MrsTwix Wed 22-Mar-17 19:57:57

==I hope he is good in bed. ==

So why did you marry him grin

MrsTwix Wed 22-Mar-17 19:58:37

That should be hope he is good in bed

Sorry!

Goldfishjane Wed 22-Mar-17 19:59:37

YANBU
Sadly I think it's amazing how long you can know people before finding out stuff like this.

MrsTwix Wed 22-Mar-17 19:59:43

Errol, that is a fantastic picture.

AnoiseAnnoysanOyster Wed 22-Mar-17 19:59:49

I didn't know you changed a tyre with your penis.

Autumnchill Wed 22-Mar-17 20:00:54

In 20 years of driving I've never had to change a tyre!

I hope you took the Jack and hit him upside his head grin

Roomster101 Wed 22-Mar-17 20:09:31

Yes, your DH does sound like a sexist twit but perhaps more worrying from your point of view, it seems that you don't actually know each other.

Evilstepmum01 Wed 22-Mar-17 20:16:25

That's it tho, I do know him. I can't believe he said that. Or thinks like that. The man I've been with for 5 years? Wow, just wow

CoolCarrie Wed 22-Mar-17 20:20:01

MacNcheese87, I just sprayed tea over my iPad at that !

ComputerUserNumptyTwit Wed 22-Mar-17 20:21:56

I think it's sexism rather than misogyny here, but that could me being pedantic.

Having said that I can't change a tyre - or rather I won't. It's a daft thing for him to fret about anyway - how often in a driving lifetime does anyone other than a rally driver need a wheel changing?

WorraLiberty Wed 22-Mar-17 20:24:09

Why doesn't your DH know that you can change a tyre and you don't carry money? confused

IamFriedSpam Wed 22-Mar-17 20:24:22

YANBU I can't change a tyre (but then nor can my DH) but you would expect your DH to know you well enough to realise that you can, and not to assume that your colleagues can't change a tyre either.

2017SoFarSoGood Wed 22-Mar-17 20:34:05

MacNcheese87 I have put your phrase in the vault for future use. Made my day!!!! grin

WorraLiberty Wed 22-Mar-17 20:35:38

How many tyres have you changed, OP?

Can your DH change them too?

Evilstepmum01 Wed 22-Mar-17 20:40:06

Several tyres Worra. As has dh.

sherazade Wed 22-Mar-17 20:40:16

He's a misogynistic twat that has filled you with rage for saying you might be vulnerable ?
I think you need to calm down .
Says she who can't change tyres
There's no requirement for being a feminist that one must be able to change tyres is there ?

lljkk Wed 22-Mar-17 20:40:49

I would have assumed that was a bad joke & I would have fired off something back about how men always get lost coz they won't even ask the SatNav for directions.

(Changed all 4 of my car wheels last weekend, <preen> )
