So I'm 39 weeks pregnant and for the last few days I have killed myself doing stuff around the house batch cooking dinners for after I give birth and looking after ds. Last night I ended up feeling so sick with headaches and dizziness and after a trip to the doctors this afternoon he said it was just end of pregnancy and that was it. I've stayed in bed resting all day with ds watching movies and still feel rubbish. Now my AIBU is my OH came home from work asking what's for dinner. I told him I hadn't cooked anything today as I feel awful and he moans at me saying I could have at least taken something out of the freezer. I have had dinner on the table every night last few weeks I've been off AIBU to forgoe it one night? BTW he's off takeaways as he wants to eat more healthily which is fair enough I respect that.

No he can make the tea for a change. What's he going to be like with a newborn in the house?

Of course yanbu. I'm sure he can prepare a quick meal given you're heavily pregnant and feeling unwell.

Although I suspect loads of superwives will be along to say you could have thrown something together.

Tell him this last week is a dummy run for when the baby is here!!

Oh bollocks to him! We eat batch cooked meals from the freezer regularly without prior defrosting, if he can't even manage that tell him to do one!

YANBU the lazy git, why can't he defrost something or whip up a quick meal for all of you since you're pregnant and feeling terrible!

He's a grown man I'm sure he can cook his own dinner! Rest up and take it easy xx

Omg what a prick.

I am astounded by some of the stories I see on here sometimes. My DP would have just said "cool, shall we treat ourselves" and we would have ordered in cos he admits he is not the best cook :D

Update I told him I wasn't cooking tonight full stop and there was lasagnes, quiches and shepherds pie all in freezer in individual containers to take his pick. I think he's just in bad form with stuff going on in his job but I wasn't backing down either.

It's pretty outrageous that he tries that on with a heavily pregnant woman, regardless of what else is going on in his life.

You could have thrown something together before you skived off to bed.
Tsk!

Of course yabvu whilst preparing his dinner ready to have on the table, anticipating his exact arrival time you should also have stuck a brush up your arse and brushed the floor! Least that's probably what I'd have asked him was he expecting but then I'm in a mood.
Meanwhile here's some Cake and Flowers and I hope you have your feet up and are feeling better (or as good as anyone ever feels at 39 weeks)

In response to your suggestion has he said 'no you must cook me something' or 'yes ok then'. If the former then yes he is bu, if the latter then there isn't an issue really.

I could have at least taken something out of the freezer

This is very true. If you were bedridden all day then you shouldn't have done it especially but if you were up then taking out a frozen tupperwhere of whatever for him to cook for both of you later seems fairly reasonable.

DH is a great cook and enjoys it (and is fairly anal with regard to preparedness). At 30 weeks he bought a chest freezer and began batch cooking. If your husband isn't too competent in the kitchen then I can see why it was left to you.

When I broke my ankle, I did always take something out of the freezer for DH. Chicken breast, bit of pork or what have you.

Have I read the same post as others who seem to think he wanted you to have a meal waiting?
