It was an impulse buy that needs used up.

Go!

Plain steamed with loads of hollandaise or mayo. Can't wait for asparagus season.

HermioneJeanGranger Mon 20-Mar-17 17:56:42

Wrapped in bacon with hollandaise sauce and a poached egg.

EyeoftheStorm Mon 20-Mar-17 17:57:43

AndNoneForGretchenWieners Mon 20-Mar-17 18:00:00

I saute with butter and a bit of olive oil, then toss in parmesan.

kingscrossnoodle Mon 20-Mar-17 18:00:25

Griddle pan very lightly so it's still crunchy

Florrick Mon 20-Mar-17 18:00:58

Asparagus. How middle class of you. Are they from Waitrose?

Expect to get flamed....along with your asparagus.

akwan Mon 20-Mar-17 18:01:53

Roasted until crispy in olive oil and salt - served with a squeeze of lemon

Oblomov17 Mon 20-Mar-17 18:05:19

Yum!

Funnyface1 Mon 20-Mar-17 18:08:01

Wrapped in bacon, roasted in the oven.

TuddlesAndSisses Mon 20-Mar-17 18:13:09

Mmmm!! Hot griddle pan, charred lines on the outside but still crunchy. Nothing worse than soggy flaccid over-boiled asparagus. Amazing wrapped in pancetta served with a poached egg and some hollandaise

AdaColeman Mon 20-Mar-17 18:20:42

Steamed, then served with a couple of fried (in butter) quail's eggs.

Or

Served instead of toast with a very soft boiled egg.

ememem84 Mon 20-Mar-17 18:22:21

Wrap in ham or bacon cover with grated cheese. Grill.

Thewoodenspoon Mon 20-Mar-17 18:27:56

Roasted in olive oil with garlic, new potatoes and halloumi.... yum yum..

MelanieCheeks Mon 20-Mar-17 18:29:05

Steamed - you can approximate in a microwave. And then dipped into soft boiled egg.

Anonymous1112 Mon 20-Mar-17 18:29:07

Is asparagus considered posh? I'm as common as owt and have it loads when it's in season. Roasted with oil and pepper for me

calamaribanari Mon 20-Mar-17 18:29:37

Thank you! I'll check to see what else we've got in the cupboards before committing to one of these suggestions.

Roughly how long should I be roasting / sautéing / steaming / griddling?

MissAdaSmith Mon 20-Mar-17 18:30:52

slightly simmered or steamed. and then drowned in butter with some parmesan on top. yummy

CointreauVersial Mon 20-Mar-17 18:32:32

Steam, then drench in melted butter.

Or dip into a runny boiled egg. Mmmm....

I'm from the Vale of Evesham, so used to eat it by the ton when it was in season. GPs had a huge asparagus bed in their garden.

shirleycartersaidso Mon 20-Mar-17 18:33:11

Griddled with olive oil. If it's from Peru though it won't taste of much, sorry!

Ferrisday Mon 20-Mar-17 18:33:49

Wrapped in prosciutto
Pan fried on olive oil

BIWI Mon 20-Mar-17 18:34:33

Asparagus is middle class? What a bloody stupid statement to make.

It's more expensive than cabbage, that's true, but it's on sale in every supermarket.

Batteriesallgone Mon 20-Mar-17 18:35:02

Either flash fry very quickly with olive oil and drenched in lemon

Or

Roasted with loads of salt
