I've read a few articles in the last week about builders leaving and the NHS having trouble recruiting nurses from the EU since the Brexit vote. Just wondered what other people are seeing.

I am in London and have seen one set of neighbours leave to go back to Spain, so far, that is all.

I was planning to come back at some point and won't now. Not the only reason but certainly a factor.

I have had more interest in emigrating here from American friends and family than British!

One of my colleagues is leaving, as his partner is an EU citizen and they don't want the faff of sorting out her status. I think they want to get out early and avoid the rush.

No, dont know anyone who has left because of Brexit, but know of many (EU) people who are really worried about how it will impact them (and justifiably so). Also know a few people who have threatened to leave Scotland (where i live) should we get independence. Not sure where they think they will go, as if Scotland is an independent county then will surely be on an equal footing with every other EU/non Eu country in regards to England, and so most likely would be treated with the same disdain that Eu/no EU immigrants are facing in England.

A friend of a friend has moved to Brussels. However, she is a lawyer and I understand that she is going to be one of the people who works out how to implement Brexit.

There might be quite a flood in the other direction...or at least there would be if the weather were better. I'd move to Edinburgh tomorrow if I had work and DH would come with me (but he says it's too cold, although he likes holidays there).

We're British. However our industry relies on access to the single market and access to high-skilled/technical EU workers (it's a well-worn anecdote but we've had three roles in the last few months and each time the same story. Highly skilled, motivated, enthusiastic EU graduates/technicians, and an English personal trainer who had no clue about the industry, no skills, hadn't cracked open a book or even googled the industry before the interview but sort of fancied a change) and without that, it will be strangled and die. So we're sorting out the paperwork for moving, because there's literally not going to be the access to work here in 2-3 years. No one to create the product and no one to sell it to. I speak another language. I'm happy to go.

It's kind of the nail in the coffin for me. Whether it's the drinking culture, the obsession with money/class or the sneery fucking comments from working parents towards stay-at-home ones, and back the other way, I can find no pleasure in my own homeland or culture any more. My school is underfunded and struggling. They've closed my town library and doctor. My parents are UKIP voters who spread poisonous photographs and false articles around social media calling for the annihilation of non-English. Four other beloved members of my family have already emigrated to EU countries, and I miss them, and their lives are simply so much better than ours now. They have enough money, better food, more spacious homes, good jobs, better schooling and - obviously - better weather. Culture is about enjoyment and family. In my 'village' culture is putting bricks through people's windows, teenagers shattering car windscreens, arson and flytipping.

So, I have no real family here and I don't fit in. It is not home, certainly isn't now and hasn't felt so for some time.

If Scotland gain independence we're giving serious thought to moving there, it would only be an hour northwards for us so (depending on border controls) DH could commute to his job until he found one locally and I work from home so can do that anywhere really.

I could see a fair few people from the very North of England moving across the border, certainly we're not the only ones amongst our friends thinking about it.

Yes a friend is planning to move with her two kids. Takes time though, so isn't happening over night, but she is planning to move back after the end of the school summer term.

Yes, two near neighbors are now returning to Denmark next year - they had planned to stay for a further 5 years.

An acquaintance has moved back to Holland. My sister was going to return to England but now has changed her plans. Other friends are undecided but Brexit is affecting people's plans in our immediate circle quite significantly.

We're planning to move later this year or early next.

yup, some neighbours who were househunting for their forever home in the area have sold their home and decided instead to rent rather than buy while they plan their move to his EU country.

Another neighbour has moved to scotland as they feel they'll weather brexit better there

and one friend who was going to move here from the EU country she's been living in has decided not to

So, upset at leaving a large supranational organisation, you'd live in a country that's split from a 200 year old union? Ok

I know quite a few PhD students who had been intending to stay in the UK after they finished their PhDs but are now looking for work in other countries.

And I know quite a few people who don't know if they will be allowed to stay in the UK and who are looking at their finance/housing/work/pensions etc in case they have to leave.

A friend of mine has recently moved to Italy with his long term girlfriend as they were concerned about her being able to stay in England (she's from Italy and doesn't have citizenship in U.K.) They had big plans too, she had just started an events management course in London, planned to move there permanently when she was working full time and he was training to be a teacher. Now they are starting all over again in another country. He speaks no Italian either! But he felt he had no choice. If she was deported, there would be no future for their relationship. Very sad. We miss him!

I'd already moved. Currently in ME teaching with my kids attending the international school where I work. We have a very nice life - generous salary & perks, fabulous education for the dc, big house, lots of travel, lovely weather etc.

Brexit has put the tin lid on any possibility of returning, but to be honest it wasn't likely anyway.

I'm basically Monty Python minded. 'on second thoughts, let's not go to the UK. Tis a silly place.'

I don't know anyone leaving but I do have 2 cousins in Australia and 1 in Canada that are making plans to come to the UK after brexit. They think there will be fairer access for them compared with the current situation and they are expecting lots of choice of work in the next few years. Theyre all looking at roles in the NHS and I guess if the EU citizens leave the UK they may manage to get work fairly easily.

Yes, I know at least three sets of people who have left the U.K so far and I don't think they will be the last we know. We are hoping to move but won't know if we have managed to pull this off until July at the earliest

I know a lot of people, including us, who are seriously considering leaving. We're both British but I have no interest in being stuck here without EU membership. I don't think I can bring myself to limit my children's futures so badly by staying. We're looking at options, luckily we have quite a few because of DH's job.
