AIBU?

To feel like a winner today?!

DH works 12 hour days on weekends so I'm home alone with 2DDs (1 and 3), pregnant with DC3, battling depression (long standing, relatively under control). DD2 decided it was time to get up at 4.30am today, followed by DD1 at 6am...really wasn't sure how I was going to get through the day!

Now we're just getting ready for bathtime I'm feeling pretty pleased with myself. The girls have played nicely together, we took the dogs for a walk, DD2 napped for an hour and a half while me and DD1 watched a film I might have closed my eyes and I managed to tidy the lounge and kitchen.

I then made tea of pasta, baked fish, broccoli and lettuce...random but not all mixed together as DD1 is a fussy little bugger doesn't like any food touching and will barely touch veg/salad. Anyway, they both ate it all then DD1 asked for more lettuce!

We've had a right giggle and they've made me feel proud today. Don't get me wrong, I have days where I could just lock myself away and cry. Aibu to feel pretty chuffed with myself? Anyone else feeling like a winner for just getting through the day?

Well done! Some days can be so hard but you got through it, exercised, ate well, relaxed.

Now put your feet up!

Brilliant OP. Savour the good, don't dwell on the bad 😀

YANBU. Go you! Celebrate the good days. And a request for seconds of lettuce is a success in anyone's book.

Woohoo! I had 4 DC under the age of 5 and every day I got through to bedtime without mishap, was a winner! Also had pretty awful PND.

Well done Flowers

Nice one! I absolutely know how you feel: DH also works 12 hour shifts at the weekend, so I'm on my own with DD(2) and 7-week-old DS. We've survived the day with limited shrieking/tantrums which makes me feel like a winner, too Grin

Well done you! Yes sometimes the days that stretch out in front of you tend to be better than you think.

Well done!! Smile I also have two young kids and low lever depression and can't conceive of how I'm going to get through the days sometimes. I know exactly that feeling of pride. And I'm not pregnant.

Low level. Not low lever!

Thats fab when the day turns out good, especially when you thought it would be a bit of a mare. Glad you had such a lovely day

Yep, you nailed it Grin

I hated DH's 12 hour days at weekends with tiny DC so extra kudos. Have something nice to drink and a good film when they're asleep!

Thanks for all the boosting posts. I know I'm blowing my own trumpet a bit was expecting some sarcastic responses along those lines but hey ho, I've even got them both to bed for 7.30! Well done to all of you who have got through the day without too much drama Cake

That's brilliant!

I'm in a similar situation this weekend, DH is off on a very rare jolly. We ordered takeaway and watched a film last night and then the kids and the dog slept in my bed with me.

Today we've made pancakes, made a robot costume, been for a long walk and made pizzas. Bedtime will be relaxed (it usually is on weekends even with dh around) so the kids are all currently doing their own thing and I'm upstairs watching Devious Maids.

The house is tidy, everyone's happy and I've kept sane.

It's. it how I thought the weekend would go tbh but I'm very proud of myself.

Go us!

Aah completely know how you feel! Well done for managing the day well despite the early start and being pregnant. Glad you enjoyed your little ones, and the lettuce thing is fab - beyond my own achievements with my 3 but can imagine the pride! Hope you can remember this good day on your worse days, and it helps 😊😊😊

You definitely should be proud Flowers , that's quite a list of achievements for one day!

Thank you, Wriggler , the lettuce thing blew me away as she really is becoming more and more fussy which really gets me down as she used to eat anything. I will remember it tomorrow for sure when she's refusing to touch anything green or remotely healthy!!
