Costing out a day trip to the zoo, now that DC has turned two have to factor in their ticket cost. DH says that we should just say he isn't yet two so it's free, and that everyone does it. Just wondered what the general consensus is on this? I feel bad lying but see his point that DS is still pretty young and could end up napping through a lot of it so won't necessarily benefit.

I would do it

SookiesSocks Fri 17-Mar-17 18:17:29

Ahem I have never done this wink

SquatBetty Fri 17-Mar-17 18:18:43

I would probably lie too but get ready for loads of posters telling you they would never be so dishonest and you're a disgrace for even thinking this!

As long as he's young enough not to pipe up and correct you which is what my dd did then you're golden grin

Etak15 Fri 17-Mar-17 18:19:00

Do it till he's about 4grin

Coverup890 Fri 17-Mar-17 18:19:35

If they can pass for younger go for it.

llangennith Fri 17-Mar-17 18:19:38

Of course you lie! I don't know anyone who doesn'tgrin

Yep unless they are able to dob you in, then I'd do it.

My dc were four on the bus for a long time.

DoingThisRight Fri 17-Mar-17 18:21:07

I would grin

I recently said that DS and his mate were 12 rather than 13 so they could get in somewhere as 'children'.

This shit is expensive. Don't blame anyone for trying to save a few £££.

I'm usually on the side of don't lie. Feeling miffed at the moment though as promised to take our boys to Alton Towers in a couple of weeks but will have to pay for DD as she's just turned 3. However she is tiny (size 12-18m clothes) and still too small to go on most of the rides, even ones that your average sized 3 year old can go on, so I'm really reluctant to fork out for her ticket. I might take her along and pay if they ask, but if they assume by her size that she's younger, not correct, though will feel guilty all day for lying by omission blush

I haven't ever lied about my children's ages to get free admission.

It is dishonest.

If you'd be happy to turn a blind eye if they lied in order to overcharge you, go ahead and be a liar to steal from them. But if you'd expect honesty from them, be honest yourself.

golfbuggy Fri 17-Mar-17 18:23:54

Good to see so many honest people on here hmm. Not paying when you should be is one of the reasons the prices are going up!

I've done this. It came back and bit me on the bum when he had an accident at the venue, an ambulance was called and I could hear the first aider saying 'yes, an infant, under 2' to the dispatcher and I had to confess.

EB123 Fri 17-Mar-17 18:25:11

Meh I would lie. My ds1 was 4 on the bus for a while after he turned 5.

Bluntness100 Fri 17-Mar-17 18:25:19

I'm fairly sure I did this too. I think most people do for a short period after the cut off. It's not like they ask for a birth certificate.

maddiemookins16mum Fri 17-Mar-17 18:25:30

Blimey, I would, it's crazy that they have to pay at 2 anyway.

cauliwobbles Fri 17-Mar-17 18:27:06

We have this at the moment. DH is saying lie, I think we should just buy a yearly pass, ours don't run out till September and he wants to wait till then do we get new ones all at the same time.

I just dread them asking DD!

Wando1986 Fri 17-Mar-17 18:27:08

No it's not. At all. Most wouldnt even bother going if they couldn't get away with it, because they couldn't afford it? so they'd be missing out on the adults fees too if people didn't fib a bit.

Get over yourself grin

wonderingsoul Fri 17-Mar-17 18:28:10

Prices go up because they can get away with it. Not because a small percentage lie about the childs age.

Do it.

Slightlyperturbedowlagain Fri 17-Mar-17 18:32:54

sad we have to take ID to prove DS1 is still under 12. (I told him to stop growing but he just won't grin)
