Neighbour 'stolen' my parcel

I ordered a birthday gift from Amazon for my DS on the 4th March, this gave plenty of time for it to get delivered. His birthday is getting very close and the tracking system on Amazon still says not yet delivered. So, I've contacted the Markeplace seller, incidentally they've got 100% feedback, who tell me that it was delivered to my neighbour on the 9th March! The thing is we've received no delivery card to tell us that this was the case. After much email toing and froing the seller has contacted Hermes and gave me the name and number of the house where it was left (not an obvious choice as there's plenty of houses closer to me and not one that items have been left at before). I went over to the house, first time I'd been there, and they had no knowledge of it! The young man asked why it hadn't been put through the letter box! It's a rented house and I've never met this chap before. Now here's the thing the seller is telling me that it must have been stolen by the neighbour. Hermes are going to interview the delivery driver and he should have the GPS location if delivery. Got no gift can't contact Amazon that easily, what do I do now?! For context we have a safe place for delivery and like us our near neighbours take in for each other.

It's far more likely that hermes fucked up than that the neighbour stole it

Hermes are generally shite.

I'm surprised the seller is essentially washing their hands of it. If something from Amazon has been missing delivered for me sellers have always sent a replacement. I'd be on at them to resend and claim costs from hermes.

Have they told you why it was delivered to a neighbour? Also why wasn't any note put through your letter box telling you where it is? I wouldn't accuse this neighbour of theft with so little evidence.

It will be Hermes not the neighbour. Complain to Amazon direct if seller won't refund.

I'd say it more likely a delivery fuck up than your neighbour stealing it.

hermes there's your problem! Had three parcels go missing from them and round in my area they are well known as thieves, noone who has lived here around a year or more uses them. Even had a driver claim to have left my parcel under a bay window once but we are flats there is no bay window, customer services when I phoned were adamant there was a window and that's where the parcel was left and that a note had been pushed through. No note and not possible, they washed their hands of it, I think it's the customer services attitude that leads to drovers behaving like this. I know it's a pain but I would go straight back to amazon and ask for a refund then order from someone who uses a reliable delivery method.

We have had this, it's almost certainly he delivery company and not the neighbour. Hermes to let me I had signed for a parcel that they failed to deliver

I agree it sounds suspicious on the delivery front but I now can't email the seller as I keep getting 'error' try again. It was actually a White Stripes vinyl for my baby boy's DS 18th birthday tomorrow! Their first album that came out in 1999 the same tear that he was born. Bloody shit Hermes twts and cnts. Thanks for all the advice ( love MN can really swear unlike in real life without getting dirty looks!!).

Why is is hard to contact Amazon? More than likely they will instantly refund or resend, they've always gone above and beyond when I've had an issue.

Hermes claimed to have delivered one of my parcels. They hadn't. They hadn't even attempted to deliver it and I suspect the delivery driver just cut his losses or didn't even have it and marked it as delivered. We live in the middle of nowhere with no neighbours, it's a dead end and we hear every vehicle that comes in and out, I was at home all day on the day of delivery and it was a large bulky item so wasn't hiding somewhere.

After going round in circles I eventually got Amazon to send a replacement. The replacement and the original turned up in the same delivery! Presumably as the replacement was put in the same bit of the depot that the original had been delivered to ... and possibly never left

squidgey the questions kept taking me back to ' contact seller ' button. I'll look at it more closely and hopefully I'll get my money back although obviously I'd rather have the gift to give Sad

It's easy to contact Amazon it's a free phone number.

scrowly how annoying! We do have a safe place so it doesn't sit right with me. I did really struggle to get through to Amazon though. The telephone number on the web is obsolete now, everything is email!

Yes, complain to Amazon direct. I had an item from a marketplace seller fail to arrive, when I contacted them they said they'd resend and refund half the price, but did neither. I contacted them again, waited a couple of days for a reply, then when I heard nothing, raised it directly with Amazon and they refunded straight away. I know it's not quite the same situation but their very keen to take the customer's side.

Yep, it's the delivery people. They do it all the time here. They once emailed DH naming me as someone who had taken delivery of a parcel for him. He believed I hadn't as I'd been in labour in hospital that day Hmm

Then you can ask them to phone you immediately in in 5 minutes (IIRC). Amazon make it really easy to contact them and get their help.

Go through the Amazon live chat and they'll sort you out with a refund. I had a parcel that was supposedly put behind the bins and they gave me a refund straight away. I actually found it a week later behind the bin but it DEFINITELY wasn't there when I first looked. Blush
