AIBU?

TO loose weight

So I'm loosing weight (and really need to) I'm bridesmaid for my best friend in December and we have been told by the dress shop that we have to order dresses in may - that is an entire 7 months before the wedding. I am hoping to loose a lot of weight in that time - I've been doing so well and the average weight loss for the programme I'm on is 1 stone a month.

I don't want to stop loosing weight for 7 months but equally don't think I will be the same size and don't feel comfortable ordering a dress knowing I'm planning on being smaller. I've told my friend and she seems unfazed but not sure she realises how serious I am even though pre dc I lost 7 stone with the same diet.

Aibu to continue on anyway and deal with the dress issue later?

Would you be able to pay to take it in?

You will have dress fittings afterwards so hopefully they can adjust it to your weight loss.

There's no way you're going to lose a stone a month for that many months, surely? How long have you been losing for currently?

Just have the dress taken in if you lose weight. If you can lose seven stone you must be at the point where it will make a big difference to your health. Don't put it off and good luck to you.

Of course you're not bu. Carry on losing weight!
But discuss with the dress shop. Maybe you could order the dress a size smaller, and it could be taken in some more nearer the time if you lose more weight?

Thank you for reassuring me

Klaphat - I have a lot to loose and people have been known to loose 12 stone in 10 months - when I last did the programme I lost 7 stone in 6 months, so really it could make a big difference dress size wise.

How many dress sizes can they take a dress in?

To lose weight. To lose weight!

How expensive is the dress?
If it's not too bad, I'd order two.
And ask the shop about how much they can be altered - it really depends on the style and where the seams are.

What programme are you on? I am getting married in a year and need to shift some weight. Only seem to be able to manage 8-10lb a month

Don't be a dick wandering, we all know what she means!

And why don't you ask the shop what they suggest? They might compromise and order one a little smaller that they can then take in further if you lose lots.

I'm sorry. It's just so annoying.

Hazard a guess what you'll be and order in a size bigger perhaps. Then get it fitted a couple of months before.

What diet are you doing?

Moomoomango · 16/03/2017 19:53

The dresses are £200 each so I can't really buy two - if they were cheaper I definitely would but I'm
Poor!

I guess I just feel like they will look at me and be like "yeah alright love you think your gonna lose 6 stone" eye role kind of ordeal - I guess I'm embarrassed!

It's a vlcd meal replacement diet - Cambridge weight plan

moo sounds lke a great weight loss ! (i'd like some of that) What diet are you doing?

Good luck with the weight loss - I echo the advice to talk to the dress shop about the feasibility of taking the dress in (they could help you choose a style that will be easy to alter).

I'm sure you've heard this before, but do be careful of your general health if you're on an extreme type of weight-loss plan - 1 stone a month sounds a lot (particularly over an extended period) - you should make sure you have regular health checks.

Best of luck!

It really is OK to point out that someone is spelling a word continuously wrong and Wandering was a dick about it.

Sorry wandering - I've been up since 4.30am and I'm tired

If they do that, take your custom elsewhere! If they have any idea of customer service, they won't embarrass people who are in the market for £200 bridesmaid dresses.

You can't stay on a vlcd for that long. It's only recommended fog up to 12 weeks.

Good luck!

I sincerely mean that!

But can I be a dick and say please don't do a meal replacement diet? They are not great for you and the weight tends to pile back on when you stop them. I've done several.

You can eat loads and loads of amazing healthy food and lose weight. Could you chat to a dietician and draw something up?

Sorry about the unsolicited advice. I hate these diet/meal replacement fads. They're not the answer. FlowersStarSmile

You can do 12 weeks then add protein and salad for a week then do another 12 weeks.

I really would not try to lose weight that quickly, you'll end up with gallstones
As for the dress, if you're determined to be smaller you'll just have to get it altered nearer the time I think. I had to do this once, it was fine.
