After seeing a post early this morning about tommee tippee prep machine having mould in the pipes i was more than slightly concerned
baby bottle from a mouldy machine!!!!!

Calm your pants. No need to shout although I agree about warning people. Yes it's disgusting and awful but I think it's mostly down to not cleaning it properly. Mine is fine along with 6 other's that I know have been checked in the last 24 hours.

There is a prep machine to measure out a scoop of milk powder and a bottle of water? What will they think of next, a nappy changing machine measuring out 1 nappy and 4 wipes ?

Paxillin- my thoughts exactly. We make bottles by hand. No need for any machine IMO

Pax I think it's more to do with the temperature. You know how the Health Visitors insist on bottles being an EXACT temp these days.

I thought these machines hadn't been independently tested/approved? Didn't the FSA state that the water was not hot enough to kill bacteria in formula and that the rest of the water was only filtered? People who use these are not following guidelines correctly anyway, so why the TYPED OUTRAGE OVER INEVITABLE MOULD?

I checked mine earlier, used daily for 16 months and no mould in sight.

Checked both mine yeaterday, one second hand ...no sign of any mould. From what i remember lady who used this machine has admitted to using one of the water jug filters instead of the correct filters. Machine needs regularly cleaning. If youve seen this on fb there are 100s of people commenting saying their machine is ok. Think this is user mistake. However always worth checking and i did another cleaning cycle as a result anyway.

That's the problem though so many people put pictures up online saying oh my machines fine but you need to take the pipes off and look inside them and there was thin layers of mould

15 years too late for me but I quite like the sound of the machine.

Have a look at the company's FB page - shocking number of units have mouldy growing in them. Not always obvious when you look at the piping from the outside, but can be seen when you push a cotton bud down inside them.

The food standards agency and First Steps Nutrition had already raised concerns about the safety and testing protocols for this product two years ago, but it seems that parents will overlook these concerns if a product has a good consumer rating and makes life with a baby a lot easier.

It don't even dispense the powder . I googled it and watched a video . It only dispenses water at a "correct temperature" .

Rachel - I agree! Measure out half the liquid for the feed from a freshly boiled kettle and the other half from a bottle of cooled boiled water from the fridge. Add powder to hot liquid, shake, then add cooled boiled water. Job done.

No my concern is that companies are making things like the above and making a lot of money from it all when, as you say Minifingerz, job done with a normal kettle and scoop and powder . Its like you are all being ripped off (though if you got the money to afford it I guess its fine).
