Hi. Am I crazy to want to organise a online birthday party.. I don't have any freinds in real life but I want somewhere where I can pretend I'm. Having a party but only via Facebook or WhatsApp with people I have never met.. Otherwise I won't see anyone but my parents on my birthday.

How would that work?

I have online friends, too. wink Parties tend to be fairly impromptu - someone posts something which lights a fire, and we all pile in! Marvellous fun.

Could you arrange to meet some of those online friends in rl for your birthday?

Yabu that sounds like a non party

ATruth and eggcurry, online friends might be quite some distance away. In such circumstances, waiting for a RL party is also a non party!

I don't want a real life party. My parrents are too controlling to allow it and I don't really like being in the company of others in person.

It be on the 29th April if anyone on here wants to attend my virtual party.

Count me in. wine

Id love a movie night. Everyone shoves the same film on, or catches it on the telly at the same time, opens whatever booze is nearby and posts away all night.

A party without the need for smalltalk or a bra

Derlei Tue 14-Mar-17 19:43:27

Are you the same OP that wanted to go to a night club?

How do these online parties work?

comedycentral Tue 14-Mar-17 19:44:12

I think that it's a great idea if you have lots of online friends. I recently went to an online book launch and it was really good

Scribblegirl Tue 14-Mar-17 19:45:36

Wondering the same as Derlei

I've been to online parties but many years ago over MSN. Bottle of wine at home and instant chat with other pissheads charming folk. Less stressful than a real one and no need to dress up!

My calendar is downstairs and i'm comfy so I can't check it right now but i'd be up for an online party.

I'm in a fb group of mums (we started on mn) and sometimes a night will turn into an impromptu party. Never done an organised one but I don't see why not!

^ Yes to this!

JenniferYellowHat1980 Tue 14-Mar-17 19:48:27

What do you mean your parents are too controlling to allow it? Do you love with them? Are you an adult?

KKthePanda Tue 14-Mar-17 19:50:44

I went to a birthday party in an online game I play, we played various quests and had fun! Go for it if that's what you want!

How strange. Online party's sound crap.

JonesyAndTheSalad Wed 15-Mar-17 06:39:06

egg well you're a lovely person aren't you? And it's parties. Not party's.

NapQueen Wed 15-Mar-17 06:42:47

(1) it' parties
(2) it's an invite not a summons

Well....the only real loser here is you egg. You must be very insecure and lead a narrow sort of life to come online and say things like that to complete strangers.

WonkoTheSane42 Wed 15-Mar-17 07:39:56

The OP sounds like they have severe social anxiety at the least egg but sure, anyone who doesn't socialise exactly like you is just a loser. biscuit

It's quite common in the field I work in. We have lots of online-only friends and colleagues. People bring virtual champagne and canapes and make silly chat. It can be really good fun. Why not? It's your birthday. You can do whatever makes you happy.

BounceBounceSplishSplash Wed 15-Mar-17 07:43:25

What age are you going to be OP? It's sad that your parents can dictate whether or not you're allowed a RL party.
